cubbie : your not using the study guide and practice test ? what i did was read the study guide twice on each section then took the test check the answers then seen where i was off then read it again then take the test again once i aced the practice test , i moved on to the next one
mind you one has 191 questions to answer some only 130 but it will help you , as it it is set up just like how the DOT asks the questions ,
if i had to do it over again i would still buy this product for only 30 bucks and a 100% money back if you don't pass your test the first time , it's a good deal ,
when you go to take your test at DMV just take gen / air then study more for combo/tank /dbl,trips i didn't try and do it all at once , i didn't have to pay any thing until i pass all of the tests and had my med card -
On my actual test their were about 7 questions that I know for a fact were not on (moderator removed dead link). For the most part all the questions were fairly close to the same. But when you have missed 9 questions missed on the general stinking knowledge section and have 4 questions to go....well it wasn't a pleasent experience. Air Brakes got a 96. Combos' an 88, General squeaked by with an 80.

hi coach that's interesting i don't think i found any that wasn't on the DMV test , now they were not worded exactly the same but still the answers were the same .the ones i missed I mis-read the questions , I asked the DMV lady what ones i missed and she re-read the questions to me so i knew what i missed , and it was me not reading the question right , she said i passed and did very good on them , i said that's not the point ,
do you remember the questions on your test that you missed ?
I didn't think the test differ that much between states , unless there is state related regulation for that state only , -
The only thing I remember about it was that it had to do with going over railroad tracks on a dirt road.
Don't know if it is true or not but I heard GA, and CA were hardest tests.
AND fwiw- I did the same as Cubbie...and that might have been the problem. -
I kinda wish I'd taken my test in another state - in Colorado, they stop the test as soon as you get an 80%

Y'know - I never even noticed if it told me 'right' or 'wrong'... I do know I missed a few, though. They start off telling you there are X questions on the test, and it's really easy to figure out 80% of that.. and I answered more than 80% of the questions.
I wonder if they do that, just to rattle you...
Test anxiety is a nasty nasty problem - my wife has it to an unreal degree. She'll worry herself sick before and during the test. Literally sick. Morning sickness (which she never had - though pickles and ice cream and chocolate sauce was frequently mentioned) sick. -
well i just ordered a pre-trip inspections DVD covers walk around's -air brakes on a few different rigs , it sounds good and it was cheep enough . i figured any advantage will help in school .
i got approved for my WIA program she said she will pay for the tuition and books , last appointment next Thursday to finalize it ,
i have to stay in Wisconsin for schooling and with limited funds looks like i will be going to the sun prairie driving school ( on there list ) so i applied there today and have been talking to Jeramey (recruiter for the school ) if things go right should start week from Monday . -
PTI isn't that hard, really. People look at the list and see 120-140 items, but don't realize that a lot of that is duplication. In reality, the list is actually only some 40-50 items. Not much to get worked up about at all.
Is that the only school in the area? Make sure they do true one-on-one in the cab. When you are driving, you don't want 2-5 classmates kibbitzing in the back of the cab.. should be just you and the instructor. Also make sure they guarantee at least the minimum 40 hours behind the wheel. Some schools say 'behind the wheel', but what they mean is 'the sleeper is behind the wheel, too.' You want at least that 40 hours with your hands on the steering wheel and shift lever.
