My screen name is because I am an idiot who was completely computer illiterate a short while before I signed up on TTR.
I thought is was a password I had to remember when I filled it in.
My name starts with a Q and I used to joke with my kids and make them address me as king when they wanted something.
I thought it is something I would remember not something I would see all the time or be address by by adults.

Yeah, just a lil bit. Hell I live in the chicken capital of Al. All that chicken#### makes good pastures. I figured all the stock in Mn had to be trucked south to keep it from freezing. JK by the way. But yeah we have lots of cattle, both dairy and beef.

I learn something new everyday. How do you deal with livestock without having to deal with frozen teats, sliding doors that won't shut and froze up waterers???? lol

Kick em out in the pasture and just keep hay in front of them. It usually only gets down in the 20s and 30s at night, but every now and again it'll get down near zero so we just put in frost proof hydrants and carry a small butane torch to thaw out the waterers. We prolly only get maybe 2 months of what could be called hard winter. You gotta think 2 inches of snow will just about shut down the whole state. By the way, how's the knee doing? I read where you gotta get it cut on. I tore mine up back in 95 and they kinda fixed it. Hope everything goes good for you.

Knee is doing good I have surgery on the 30th it hopefully won't be a big deal.

Its been an easy winter so far but a winter like last year can be a real pain with the cows constantly something froze up. 4 calves today and 22 more due by the end of January.

I've always wondered, why do most have the cows bred so they drop in the winter?

Friend of mine had his knee fixed, and they put him straight to work on PT. 19 years ago when I had mine done, I was in a brace for 1 1/2 months before PT. needless to say the first time the sadist tried to move it I almost busted him in the nose! Yeah last winter was pretty rough around the house, had about 2 feet of snow( for the whole winter) and something like 15 days where it never got above 20. Since I'm gone so much now, I got rid of all the cows but still have 3 rope horses. The wife told me I had to shorten up my running schedule to get some more cows. Lol
