Respectfully disagree about needing shop for it coming on when running down the road. Carrier Comfort Pro is VERY different from TK Tri-Pack. I just went through this learning thing. It is SUPPOSED to have the ability to do that so you can use the APU to take the place of a fried alternator, so they engineered it so it will run when the truck is running, which the TK's don't do.

Problem comes in with all the seven tons of "comfort and monitor mode" stuff they engineered into the software in the head (by the bunk - that YOU program "preferences" into). If you set all the comfort and battery monitoring stuff to auto, then it will do it right on - even going down the road when your truck engine is doing the same job. Even if it is working at cross purposes as the truck's HAVAC and even if you kill the APU. If it's set to the auto monitor and comfort things- it will come back on if they get outta parameters you set; no matter if you're rolling or not. Burned a bit of "double diesel" myself learning that.

All that is great and well if you fry an alternator. You can keep going on the APU taking its place, but me? I have my own personal tastes as to when I want my APU on and off and I get that taste better satisfied by not letting the APU computer run the show unless I'm taking a reset.

PM me Macho, I'll hook you up on the skinny on these new Carrier APU's. They got a lot of good - but you got to really get to know them to get the full Monte outta them. Otherwise they WILL kick on and double diesel you. They come with a big bunch of info in their service pack/ owner booklets but I get that most drivers throw that away as "junk" so you may not have one. The new Carrier was a big change for me and I'll be glad to share. Does take some getting used to, but no worries; once you figure it out you can make it sing and dance whatever tune you want.

In case you haven't heard, the rules concerning a 34 restart that went in effect in June 2013 have been suspended. That means no more periods of 1 a.m.to 5 a.m. and no more 1 restart per week.

It's is now back to the old way, straight 34 break as many times as you want.

The way you can tell is by looking at your E-logs. If the times of your last restart are not there or the reject button is missing, yours is updated. If not, call log department and they will send you the update again. I had to call cuz mine didn't go thru the 1st time.
