You guys got this old guy up and posting quite a bit lately. Roehl pays on the practical mile setup which is head and shoulders above the old Household Movers Guide.Which by ther way Swift pays by. Yeah Roehl always sent me a route on the qualcom along with the dispatch info. I found that it was not always the shortest route, but most of the time if you followed it you would be close to your paid miles. Having driven for several years I would always grab my road atlas and pick out the best route,as long as it did not interfere with fuel stops.
the Roehl way....yeah right

To the guy who said he was paid better at Swift. Swift pays at the household movers guide miles, whereas Roehl pays practical miles. At Swift I was hired on at $.40 a mile, and at Roehl at $.38 a mile.I made much more driving for Roehl.Something fishy here. I think I pretty much know the ropes of the trucking industry, but Swift is not a good place to work.Did you ever notice that if you are a driver from the eastern US,and you cross the Mississippi River they take $.02 away from you,not just for the miles west of the river, but for the entire trip.If you can drive for Swift and be happy, more power to you.

Roadog, I agree Roehl does pay a driver closer to the actual driven mileage than most. If you steal $100 or $10 you are still a thief. Roehl is just not as big a thief as others. But they are still a thief.

Don't get me wrong, I both see and hear the problems with Roehl, but I can't complain since they haven't happened to me.... yet! I am not naive to them and I am standing-by to stand-by for them to happen to me.
Want to know my biggest rant to date? I get dispatched a load picking up a relay in Gary heading for L'anse, Michigan, which in turn I am relaying to the Oak Creek drop yard. Then I drive over to Waunakee and pick up a load going to Coal City, IL. No problem. Well, this morning after I send my empty call, I get dispatched back to Oak Creek pick up the same trailer I just dropped off there yesterday. Now before the dispatch, I have to give it to him for being a man about it, my DSR called me and ASKED, didn't demand, if I would take this load and stay out a little longer. I agreed since I wanted to see L'anse and I don't really have any plans at home anyway. Basically, if they'd have sent me here to begin with, I'd be home on time. I can't really complain though, since I was asked and agreed to it. Just seems like poor planning on their end. No biggie, I still get my home time, got to go some place new (and see a moose!). That is it. That's my only snafu thus far.
I like Roehl, I like driving, and I like driving for Roehl. Cheerleader, maybe. I am proud of my job and my company, I have no reason not to be. I'll be the first to say, I don't plan on staying here forever, but for now it's a good fit. -
