    I have to agree Steve.

Left Sumner this AM after sleeping in my own bed again. Drove 493 miles to Weed to spend the night. Have to stop by an OC to get my 2015 Oregon fuel permit before I forget.

As the trucking world turns........another change in assignments. Yesterday as I merrily making my way to Phoenix, I get a message to the truck to relay my current load in French Camp and grap an MT and head to Reno for a hot load. The problem is, I am 75 miles PASSED French Camp when the message arrives. So, I stop and call my DBL and asks what's up. He says they have a 4 live load going from Sparks (McCarran) to Woodinville WA, Bellevue, Issaquah, and Marysville to be delivered starting at 03:00 on 12/24. He tells me it is a tight schedule. I tell him that's a super tight schedule. I tell him, IF I don't have weather related delays, I could do it. So off I go back 75 miles French Camp to relay the load and head to Sparks. I have enough time to get there and spend the night just outside Susanville CA.

So much for planning. Got delayed by 2 accidents. 1 on I-5 (4 cars) and another near Donner's Pass. Delay totaled almost 2 hours. Get to shippers, do my D/H and head out to Susanville. Going down the road about 1/2 hour and a message comes to the truck from C/S. The Einstein at the guard shack forgets to give me the paper work for one of the stores. I turn around again and head back to grap the paperwork. Now my 11/14 are almost at zero. I can only go 2 miles to a small truck stop at USA Prkwy exit to spend the night.

There is no way I am going to make it 778 miles to Woodinville WA at 03:00 on the 24th. I write my DBL an email and update my appointment time in Workflow. At least 4 hours late now to the appointment.

Today I drove 523 miles from Sparks to Brooks OR for the night. Have to wake up at o dark thirty to start my day to by 4 hours late.

Yesterday I drove 631 miles (most ever) chasing my tail. This week I have relayed 3 loads. Not sure why. Getting another 1042 miles out of this trip, IF I finish it. This is the 3rd 1000 mile run for me. I have yet to finish one of them.

It it was good talking with Warhippy yesterday.

I had about 46 miles yesterday because the loaned truck had problems. I was told my truck would be ready sometime yesterday, but they didn't know when. Well, it wasnt ready. So I got a short load to Long Beach. Another recycle place. Two hour live unload where I have to disconnect and park on the street. Then a 2 hour live load to relay in Fontana. Spent all day, about 5 hours on duty and driving for a total of 103 miles. Not a great day either. Now on home time for Christmas. Already have a preassign from Oxnard to Phoenix with 4 stop delivery.

I dropped my relay, and decided to look for an empty, since I figured looking when I returned would be a PITA and set me back. The first trailer I looked at 2 spaces away was empty, and looked decent enough. So I called in to have it added. Was good so I took it. Never has finding an empty been so easy. I should buy a lottery ticket. Merry Christmas all.

Hope you get your truck back soon.

Today drove 291 miles to all 4 of my live loads. I actually got to deliver my loads. New pre assignment has me D/H to Sumner for a DH that goes 979 miles to Shaftner CA for delivery on the 27th. My TAH starts on the 30th.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

So we're both going to be out Christmas huh?

I dropped my co-driver off for his sometime and have been running solo since the 22nd. First load was 44500 pound recycled paper going 631 miles. Not used to trip planning as a solo I thought 21 hours is plenty of time to make the appointment. OOPS! I ended up driving straight to delivery and staging their for my 10. Not bad though...had unload and live load before I started my clock today. Relayed the load out to Phoenix and P/U a relay for Fontana. I'm 200 to drop in Fontana and not sure whats next. PM is scheduled for the 27th in Fontana.

We'll see how this week goes as a solo. So far I can't complain. I had a goal to average 1000 miles a day as a team and we had 22,749 on the 22nd. I'm shooting for 3000+ in 8 days as a solo. I'm at 1300 so far on day 3.

    Merry Christmas!

Yesterday, I drove 196 miles from Sumner to Brooks OR. Today, I drove 422 miles from Brooks to Corning CA. Got here early, so I gave my truck a much needed shower. She is all pretty again. LOL.

The trailer I P/U in Sumner is a POS. 931XXX. The last driver found no defects. Really. This just didn't happen over night. Rusted away to paper thin. I could actually pull the metal away with my fingers.

image.jpg image.jpg Deserted truck stop in Corning. Just one of the few crazy enough to be out here on the day after Christmas. Hey, no wait for a shower.

So...been running solo for 4 days, 5 assignments and 2100 miles and this is what I have learned.

    1. The days are much longer and usually you eat up the whole 14 hours doing whatever you are doing. With teaming you work 12 and then pass it off.

    2. Live Loads and unloads are a pain. Teaming we usually do nothing but drop and hook. I have to re-look my backing skills.

    3. The pay is less for twice the work.

    4. I am wiped even after four days but find it had to sleep. There is no set schedule it's whatever the assignment is.

Overall I definitely prefer teaming over solo. I think I hustle and push pretty hard but when I looked at the settlement statement it's not quite as satisfying as teaming.

    More later!!!

Dennis, welcome to our world. All of that and more. Try adding L.A. traffic into the mix, and you wind up the whole day gone and only one or two hundred miles.
