Hi, I'm just starting out and wanted to know that if you had the "ins" at Challenger or Schneider, which one would you choose? Help is really appreciated here.

Well, I definetly would read some of the posts on here about Schneider before I went to work for that company. Almost everypost on here has something bad to say about them.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I'm assuming that is just because Schneider's so big. Just like there's the anti-Walmart movement, I assume since there is... say 40,000 people out there that have turned over from Schneider and become O/O's, moved to smaller companies, or left trucking altogether, there will be a huge group of disgruntled ones too.

Are you planning on OTR as well?

Bump... If there is anyone out there who will team with me for 3-4 months to make some money and then go solo, please IM me. I'm married, and I prefer working with a woman for a team.

It seems like solo driving is not going to happen right now in the big companies for new hires and might be a growing trend due to the crunch.

Is Challenger a Canadian company? Schneider is suppose to have a darn good training program.

    Thanks

    Hey CC,

Ah, okay, I see u got one year in. So ur probably familuar with the new guy stuff. Is Challenger in Alberta, too. I'm look'n for an outfit that either train's cdl's like Schneider or will take on new guy's outa school. U happen to know of any.

I'm think'n Alberta and the Fort McMurry area because their so busy and will probably stay busy.

    Thank you

I signed on with Challenger. I'm starting with them next Friday:) They look like they're just the right size and have the perfect reputation locally here.

I don,t think Challenger has any drivers based in Alberta but they do have a large terminal in Vancouver. I would way rather live in British Columbia's lower mainland than Alberta any day. The climate is so much nicer with very little really cold and almost no snow. Trucking is going to stay busy in BC as Vancouver is the largest port on the west coast. Challenger hired my wife right out of driving school. They put her with a trainer for a couple of months and then let her loose on her own. My wife thinks that the training was fantastic and the trainer never drove one mile. She was a trainer not a codriver or team driver. It is still possible to find reasonable housing in BC but not in Alberta. Because Alberta is in an ultra boom everything is very expensive there. Someone from AZ would probably feel comfortable there with the cowboy culture that is prevalent. BC on the other hand is much like USA west coast culture in fact the city that reminds me most of Van. is Portland. Very laid back multicultural place. Call recruting at challenger in Cambridge Ontario and they will fill you in on everything
