Okay, so I read the first 2 pages of replies. I found nothing that was really, any to helpful that common sense wouldn't have helped you figure out. So here is my take, for what is worth.
I drive for a company where we do "unattended delivery" which means we deliver at night, alone. I have a Crown jack and my two hands. I deliver automotive parts. About once or twice a week I have skids of batteries that at the least weight 2670lbs and at the most weigh 4250lbs. I have several up hill deliveries and no docks. All lift-gate. I had to find a method of moving these skids. I'm 175lbs and 6' tall so I'm a bit of a string bean. I have found that once I can get about an inch away from the wall with the skid, that if i can get motion going pulling to the side (back and forth, left to right and so on) that it is much easier to get the skid moving. Just a little food for thought.

Welcome anyway brother -
LoL We get discounts from God and everybody. From the phone companies to buying a new car, even places like best buy, but no, i don't get direct discounts from the customer I haul for.

Hi electraglidebiker, well, I read your post, and I won't say any catchy funny phrases, but quite frankly, I'm appalled that a company would require you to move a pallet weighing 2 tons, by yourself, with a hand pallet jack, late at night, in a dangerous situation. I think you are foolish for doing that. I hauled cheese that was 1 ton/ pallet, and THAT was a challenge, but I usually had help, or if there was no dock, we'd pull it with a chain with their towmotor, to get it to the back of the trailer. If I were you, I'd demand an electric lift, or I'd be looking for another job. You shouldn't have to kill yourself doing this job. You can take my advice, some do, some think I'm full of it or keep doing what you are doing, until you get hurt, and believe me, in that situation, it's trouble waiting to happen. Please, think about it. Thanks for listening.

I don't have to do it like I do. The company doesn't care basically how I get the job done as long as it is done safely. I have the choice to have my freight out on my lift gate prior to backing in. It is my choice to save time. I have the utmost confidence in my physical ability. If I think that it is beond my ability I will find another method of doing the job. I was raised a farm boy on a dairy and have faced my fair share of problems. I will always figure out how to get the job done with out hurting myself. I'm not a whiner nor a quitter. This is the easiest job I've ever done!
