New to Prime INC - What to expect (Springfield edition)

I agree... its not worth the trouble.... best to just leave it at home..... Like I said, I was just curious about their policy.

 

Yes all of the trucking companies don't allow it

what happens if you fail the pretrip inspection? do they send you home???

 

They take you out back on the hill and have a new student perform a brake test while you stand in front of the truck on a downhill slope [emoji6]

If you fail multiple times (usually 3), they have a sit down with you and management to discuss your future with Prime. This is because if you don't pass pre-trip then you still haven't done the backing test or the road test.

 

Think of the pretrip inspection as a five minute speech delivered to one person. As you go around the vehicle, deliver the speech while pointing at the appropriate part of the truck. When you get to the back of the truck, simply do the speech in reverse order.

There is a heck of a lot of repetition in the PTI. For example, you have five axles, and most everything on them is the same. Times two sides. Some parts are repeated ten times. Others eighteen times.

By the time you go to test for your license, you should be able to close your eyes and recite the complete PTI from memory... while seeing the part in your mind.
