John Boy,

I love this thread and read it every week. I figure there are quite a few new drivers that read it as well and was wondering if you might consider sharing some of your winter driving tips. You have decades of valuable experience and have probably seen every kind of winter hazard out there.

In my OTR days I stayed mostly east of the Mississippi and most of that midwest and southeast. Now I drive dedicated day cab. Other than a few snow storms in upstate NY and coming across PA and OH this driver didn't have to deal with much winter driving. However, I still enjoy learning more about driving from every source I can. If you get a few free moments I would love to hear your advice on how you keep it safe on the winter roads and what precautions you take.

Well my Ravens lost but I thought it was a great game. Got my truck in the shop yesterday for its idling issue and low voltage alarm. After 8 hours or so shop said everything was as it should be and working perfectly. I'm back in the Midwest tonight, 12 degrees on my phone, 42 on my dash. No idling and bunk heater about to set off low voltage alarm again. My patience grows thin, or mabey that's me as I burn all this body fat trying to stay warm at night!

 

Ya the game was good. I'm now on my way to California for Thursday. Need a couple 700+ days to get there as my 70 is a slight issue. Lets see how far I make it tomorrow from Wytheville.
