You know as dumb as this sounds when I am in my regular car I do the same thing I'll be sitting there going NO! You don't turn the wheel toward what you are aiming to avoid! I used to think man after Class A Class B will be a piece of cake I can drive a B truck anywhere and now I'm sitting here going, "You know my straight truck I think is getting a little rusty!" Ha-ha! :biggrin_2559: You're right though I'll be backing my pick up truck going wait Michael this isn't a big semi truck and I'll be turning the wheel the wrong way. You get used to backing the trailer up after a while and at the same time semi trucks have kind of a better turning radius then straight trucks do. Now the con with semi trucks is the off tracking of the trailer that kind of sucks, although the big straight trucks off track as well however in some cases you can get the straight trucks in and out of places I wouldn't even attempt to get a semi truck into, and then in other cases some places you can't get either into.

Well it was sad, I got my rejection letter from the garbage truck company. What's funny though is they had positions open for people to go there and get trained to become a garbage truck driver.

I have been rejected by a few waste companies. One of the big companies said they don't have much luck with training tractor trailer drivers. They said we over compensate on everything and can't back thus causing damage at customers. Made sense to me after I thought it through.

Get the job yet? I love front loader, roll off is too boring IMO, but they both beat slinging trash by hand...lol Hope to hear you're hauling trash soon!

No they rejected me. They did not give much of a reason why. They just said no we don't want you.

I was entertaining the idea of being a local residential driver for WM, until in the job description it says it requires the driver dismounting the truck 800-1000 times per shift. Is this right? Maybe for the helper on the back, but this was the driver job description. Do they really do 1000 stops a day?

    f that.

Yeah, WM typically loads up the work on its people. If it's a ASL (auto side loader) 1000 stops is doable. But if you're getting in and out of the truck that much in a day forget it. Find out what kind of trucks they're using and whether it's a 2 man route. It wouldn't be a bad gig with a helper.
