That is great money! Hang with that for sure man!
An hourly gig is what I keep looking for but in this area most pay about 14 to 16 an hour.

Well I dunno, you're about the second (or third) person that made reference to a larger company having more financial stability. I cannot tell you how many "larger companies" have gone under FASTER than the smaller ones!

I feel from what I have been a witness to over the years, NO company is as secure as we would like them to be. The old saying, "here today, gone tomorrow" is at close hand for many "LARGER companies" like the auctioneer is to the gavel.

We take our chances anywhere's we go, what to do? Worry about each company folding? Heck no, we work, we get screwed when they belly-up!

So true! I'm going from a 6 truck company to a 30 some truck company....It is rolling the dice no matter where you go.

Oh, I know. I've been doing various part time work over the years to satisfy my craving for longer distant trips. It took me a while to find a part time job I liked, and ironically I found it at Celadon. Too bad they only pay $15.50 an hour with no overtime.

Blah blah blah..oh yes we should grovel to your hourly wage and be impressed....Not!

    You really don't think that OTR pays $250 a day?..if I only ran 600miles aday @ 40 cents I can make that.
and I run more like 650-700miles and make .45...and guess what?
I don't have to run across parking lots dragging a 2wheeler and run,run run and throw boxes and packages at 30-70 stops per trailer(no thanks)

Yeah, but you're not going to run 600 miles in under 8 hours. You won't be home everyday, either.

yea,an hourly gig would have to pay me over time after 40.
It is a shame most trucking jobs don't pay over time!

I would rather hammer out 600+ miles a day than a ton of stops, but that is just me!
I go 500 miles before kicking a tire some days....lol!

believe it or not..some of us enjoy the travel and seeing new sights as the seasons change.
Don't want to be home everyday..
don't make the mistake of thinking I haven't done local work.
    didn't like it..

Would you like me to tell you with per diem and travel expenses how much more money I am taking home at the end of the year than you are?

You're not taking home more than me, I guarantee it. I'm sorry, but you don't want to measure 9 irons with me...... You'll loose.

By the way, don't make the assumption that I was never OTR. 40 cpm is chump change compared to what I was making.

That is why I miss my old job doing the movie theaters.....I could turn Florida in two days.
    Paid me 850 bucks....so 425 a day!
Too bad that deal got outbid by a big company that paid less than half that rate.

    Flybynight041 Thanks this.
