@Victor: I hate JIT loads. But they're a part of the landscape; you gotta deal with it if you want the perks.

Made it with a half hour to spare. Good thing because of their Byzantine check in procedures. Been in the door about a half hour so far, for five pallets. Oh well, $48/hr detention starts after 1 hour. Take your time, boyz. Actually those five pallets had like six pages of item numbers so I guess the lumpers are going batty downstacking and checking everything.

Next load picks up in Raeford NC, preloaded and ready in the morning, drops Wednesday in Newtown PA (near Carlisle). A little over 550 miles total and can drop early. I might get it there tomorrow if traffic allows. Likely Wednesday morning though. Lotta back roads the first leg.

Tired and going to bed. On account of how I'm old and all, now. At least I'm not young any more, anyhow.

    Peace on you.

I watched a dock supervisor "check" 55 pallets of bottled water - the exact same kind of bottled water - for three hours while I sat on the dock, waiting. And I wasn't getting detention pay of any amount.

    It boggles the mind.

Advice: When you get a Heartland trailer, check it over very closely. I've found them in various states od disrepair: one without a gear handle (don't ask me how I fixed it); with seriously under-inflated tires (I managed to get them topped off while a DOT officer was driving slowly nearby...whew!); and with a door that wouldn't close very well (I managed to close it using a piece of a broken chain and a lock.)

Yeah some of them Heartland guys are less than rigorous with their inspections. Then again I've seen a Gordon trailer with the marker lights out but everything else working. Guy at the shop said he'd have to look for a short because all the pins in the plug were good and my pigtail was fine. I told him he shouldn't bother. He looked at me like I had started eating crayons and asked just why he shouldn't. I looked him dead in the eye and said, "This is Janesville Wisconsin in early January. It's too cold for shorts."

That was when the wrenches started flying.

Your day and my day today, quite similar. And not!

Yours 467 miles, mine 438. Slow, well-maintained trucks (mine 62 mph).

Your start time 1100, mine 1100 (arrived 1045, after drive from home and pretrip, rolled out automatic gate 1105).

Your required arrival by 2100, mine a turn to KY and arrived as the green Volvo pulled out (no other trucks there... just little ol' me and receivers). Not tight. Very little stress. Sometimes unloading takes longer than today.

45 minutes later, we're done (nice to have some exercise walking repeatedly into trailer to check pallet stickers, not required), fuel up the road (all of 44 gallons). Grab a couple Wendy's dollar chick sands to go...

Finished in time to listen to State of Union (2100) in truck after wrapped post trip. My day's done, $220 gross and head home.

Easy, though sometimes long-ish days when takes longer to unload.

Not gonna get rich (part-time anyway). Took the dogs out...

Well. Without going into too much detail, it seems nothing has actually changed. I know the difference between getting actual change for the better, and getting "massaged" as it has been put elsewhere on this thread.

I've written up a problem with the APU (real) and asked to get to the Indy yard soonest.

When I get there I will be cleaning my truck out.

I will not bad mouth the company; they have not gone out of their way to screw me over. I am simply not a good fit here (or, it seems, at any big company).

I have been more than patient and I think even the most rabid anti- Gordon reader will agree I have bent over backwards to give them a fair shake. It is time, however, for me to make a change before I get mired any further into things here.

    More updates as events warrant.

    I am Captain Zoom.
    I have spoken.
