Thanks Soda Driver they say pepsi is a good company to work for. It must be you been there a long time. Is it pretty easy to learn for the average person? How long is the training period? Everyone says its pretty hard work but after doing construction for 23 years i should be ok. Any advice you could give would surely be a plus. I'm looking foward to my interview hope i get hired. I'm ready to start my new career.
Any Pepsi drivers out there?

I'm a relief driver for my pepsi location, as of right now Im being paid hourly, but once I get my own route it changes from hourly too $500 base pay plus $.16 per case. Im working 60 hour weeks, because my plant cant keep drivers for S***. We are not union, and really cant see the pay off of putting my body through this job when I hear that I'm getting paid more now being hourly then the drivers get paid with commission plus base. Chance of advancement is unlikely in my location unless I choose to move, due to the size. The work is hard, but its really not horrible, and hard work never scared me away from anything, but what makes me wonder about this job is how the drivers (at least at my plant) are used, especially the few vets that have stayed (Only 3 drivers at my plants have more then a year of experience) and how the workload is much more then that of Coke, or any of the beer vendors I have seen. Coke, and the Beer vendors seem to have their stuff pre-loaded on floats, and are able to take it off the truck right into the store, thus only touching the stuff once. Pepsi we have to unload it from dbay, roll it in, then stock it, and if you use the float break it down again, making you touch the stuff three times. From what I herd from Coke the drivers work 4 days a week, plus ever 4th week or so they get 5 straight days off.
Pepsi is a billion dollar company, and when I took the job I was expecting more of a stable work environment then one Im subjected too. One day I can work 9 hours, the next 16. Now this could be, and more then likely is just my plant, and not Pepsi as a whole. I plan on staying for Im going to start driving on Tuesday, but if it ends up being something I just cant stand, I might jump ship to coke, with a vet who said he has been thinking about it, and would help me get in since I work hard, or go to republic waste who has called me just after Pepsi Hired me. Or use my CDL for OTR, and just get my G/F to ride with me, which is the cause me of me trying to stay local.ghost25 Thanks this. -
It's a shame.. It shows in the quality of employees they're hiring now.. The good guys are gone within a year which leaves the plant short handed.. wonder how much they paid beyonce this year?Mike2633 Thanks this. -
