That prepass stuff really used to bug me. If some states, such as Wyoming and New Mexico are going to always pull you in anyway, then why mess with prepass at all in those states. Looks to me like the states are wasting money to install and maintain the equipment. Why not just be up front about "EVERYBODY IS GONNA HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SCALES, SO QUIT WHINING ABOUT IT?"

HEY ROOKIE! Be careful with that "Old fart" stuff!:biggrin_25522:

I have PrePass in my company truck. I don't run NM much but I do run Through WY and points East a lot...90% of the time if it's a PrePass coop I get a green and roll on by. Never had a problem so far...I kinda like it.
I do run US 30 & 26 out of ID into WY and both of those ports are not PrePass, so I do have to pull in.

    This.
Heck I wonder why Wyoming even has open/closed signs, they are ALWAYS open. ALWAYS.

The Alpine WY scale house off US 26 is open 0700 to 1900 and you have to stop even if your outbound, but at the Kemmerer scale off of US 30 all inbounds must stop and only outbounds that were loaded in Wyoming...if you weren't loaded in the state you can bypass that one...go figure.

Well exactly how do the know you were loaded in Wyoming if you don't have to stop. Seems if some trucks stop but others don't it would be easy to just mix in the non stopping trucks

I'm sure that happens but that's what the sign says "All trucks loaded in Wyoming must stop" I blow by all the time Westbound cause I've never loaded in that state...

If it has a sign that says "bypass if ramp is full", it was always full...

If it had prepass and one other truck was green lighted and there was a line there, I went with green lighted truck...

Ran the TN I-65 coops(N&S) more often than not, never chased on any of them...

Like IL tolls, they're optional on many occasions! ;-)

At coop on I26 in SC, IIRC, I was showing "My papers" when a truck blows by, they walk around me to the trooper sitting in his SUV and ask him if he wants to chase him, the trooper looks up and says, "nah"...
