I would definitely recommend a smaller crock pot over a lunchbox oven any day. Them ovens just don't get that hot. I have the cheapo crock pot from wally world and it draws a 100 watts. Good size for 2 people. For ease of cleanup grab some crock pot liners.
I'm baaaaaack!!!!!!!!

I hear ya. I have had good success with the lunchbox ovens though; they get to 300° pretty quick. I've done everything from casserole to beef stew to Hungry Jack biscuits in them, thrown away the little foil liner pan, and bunny hopped to freedom.
The Hot Chick prefers a proper crock pot because she's a snob. Might get the little Road Pro one that plugs into the 12 volt outlet.
Heh...gonna refer to it as her crotch pot later. I'll let you know how that turns out for me. If I live.Dominick253 and mnmover Thank this. -
Truck is supposed to be in shop status. They sent me a preplan anyway. St Louis to western Indiana picks up today live unload noon tomorrow. Told them I'd gladly run it but only if they guarantee I'll be in the shop at Indy immediately after. They said they'll check with planner. We'll see....
Mouth breathers all think I'm a regional short haul monkey.Dominick253 Thanks this. -
That 'thump' could be radial 'pull,' separation on the inside of tire not visible. If you write up, "Front end shakes," mechanics have to look at it carefully and will stay in shop to give you a little more time to work out your Risinger details. From Western Indiana, don't think you need anyone's permission to run on into Indy, anyway. I'd just QC, 'truck xxx returning to Indy' after delivery. Maybe add that front end shakes and going to shop.
I had same, thump, thump, thump at driver-side lane-change mirror (above steer). First Indy checked for mechanicals, then sent me down the street for alignment. No change. Got new steers.
All you need is buy a little time...
They'll figure it out.Dominick253 Thanks this. -

Dominick253, Lone Ranger 13 and mnmover Thank this. -
@Victor: only does it once while braking, probably a steering knuckle or kingpin; Cascadias are prone to those problems. Less dramatic might be a simple issue with a brake shoe.
Risinger would have rented a car from Indy; they'll likely rent one from Pontoon Beach. I plan on calling in the morning and telling them I'm not a good fit for their operation, I appreciate the job but I'm cleaning out my truck. (After I call Risinger)
@Denali: Nope. Part of the reason I'm moving. And I'm going to tell them that if they ask (they probably won't). I'm not here to make somebody's labor percentages look better.
@McNab: Ghoul.shanbone, Dominick253 and mcnabbtransport Thank this. -
They pulled the preplan so looks like my exit will be from Pontoon Beach. If they offer me a retroactive pay raise to regional rates I might consider staying. But they'd have to move me over to OTR immediately.
They won't.Dominick253 Thanks this. -
I have to say, CZ, your experience has given me pause for thought. I really like doing 48-OTR and I know how frustrating it was for me - and more recently for you - to be 'stuck' in the Midwest when you didn't want to be.
What to do, what to do...
I wish you well in your new endeavor. You should expect a call from Gordon or their survey company a few weeks later asking for your inout. Be honest. They really do want the feedback.Dominick253 and Captain Zoom Thank this. -
Yep, I finally got the call from the survey company and I told them who what and why I left. They were nice about it.
Dominick253 and Captain Zoom Thank this.
