Trivia point: I lived on the "lake" in Little Denver and flew out of Little Mountain for two years during my flying career long, long ago.

Cool....That area has exploded. You probably would not know it now.
I no longer boat or fish at Lake Norman.....too busy and thousands of go fast boats.

We drive east about 40 miles to Lake Tillery..
I own some land there and the lake is way nicer! Not crowded at all and good fishing.

Looking at those trucks today I had a choice of that T-660 or a ProStar eagle with a Cummins...
I think I will drive them both. The ProStar was newer but I like the KW too...
Nice of them to give me a choice of what truck AND what area I want to run.

They said drug screen should be back tomorrow since I took it first thing this morning.
The owner said they had 6 drivers apply and me and one other was picked....

Several drivers on the yard this morning.Acted like a friendly bunch of guys.
I did not see any real young drivers...bunch of old farts like me....lol!

    Big Don Thanks this.

    Well said.

Lets keep the LTL vs Truckload arguments out of this thread. EZ Money wants to inform the community about his new company where little info is available. Don't ruin it with a stupid pissing contest.

Big Don and EZ Money Thank this.

    Well,
Got a truck Wed. evening. Got it setup and left Thursday morning.
I ended up picking the ProStar they had open.
I drove both it and the KW.....The KW had 1.6 million miles on it and was one of the oldest trucks they had.
Kind of rough shape on the inside.

The ProStar has a Tri-Pac,much newer and Cummins engine with 300k on it.
Actually it is the best riding ProStar I have driven.....Never thought I'd pick that over a KW......lol

Ran to Erie PA on Thursday,Unloaded by 9 am Friday. Dead headed about 90 miles for back haul into PA across I-80.
That load came to the yard in Charlotte.
Leave out tomorrow for a Columbus OH run that is loaded on the yard, then back to NC.

So,not bad so far. The shop is going to fix a few small things on the truck I found.
The office staff is friendly, dispatch is pretty easy going but super busy.

Looks like all the miles I want....see how next week goes!

    Big Don Thanks this.

Sounds like a good start. I wish you well, driver! It seems to be hard to find a company that meets most of ones needs these days.

    EZ Money Thanks this.

    Thanks Denali,
They seem to be well organized on loads so that is good.
The paper work is a little much but I will get used to it.....just learning a new company and all that.

Paper loose leaf logs but they want us pretty much legal.
They are all about fuel receipts and tolls matching up and doing a log recap.
    No problem....

They do have Quall-com in the trucks but use it for load info and dispatch only.
I know the GPS built into it sucks compared to my Garmin....lol!

I guess they are ready when E-logs become mandatory.

First full week under my belt.
I left out Sunday and delivered my back haul this morning 3 miles from the yard.
A little over 2800 miles for the week and actually got pretty good sleep this week.

I got home Monday night for a 10 hour break and shower after my first run.....I liked that.
So far all outbound loads were pre-loaded and waiting on the yard and some back hauls come to the yard.

All in all so far not a bad place to work.
I got to know the guys in the shop.A good bunch of guys and will fix anything you ask.

Dispatch has one lady who his kind of grumpy but everyone else has been really nice.

They do run your 70 hours out pretty much...I had 2.5 hours remaining when I got in today.
They asked if I could do a one day run tomorrow but I did not have the hours so I'm off until Sunday or Monday.

My truck is getting a makeover this weekend.
Drive tires, all new bushings and shocks, new wind shield and a new stereo.

So far I'm happy....we will see how it goes but seems to be a decent company for being a 30 truck operation.

Big Don and Lepton1 Thank this.
