ok so I've been with PGT for a couple of months now and must say people come and they go. Depending on what topics are being ask will determine what answers you get. Everyone has a different view.. here's mine.. from start to now I went to orientation thinking negative I never go somewhere with my hopes high. I know no one company is perfect anyway got there and everyone in the terminal was cool they spoke they laugh just ordinary people who try to make their lives and yours easier. It did seem to be a family atmosphere. They paid for all meals each day.. they moved quickly through orientation but covered everything so you could get out and make some money.. if you had a questions they answered them, if one person didn't know the answer they found someone that knew.. fast forward a little due to me not having any experience I went out with a trainer for about a week and a half and went back to test out my trainer was a joker.. man we had fun but did our job safe... got back tested out and was assigned to my truck... my recruiter stayrd in contact with me to see if there was anything she lied about which she didn't... and that was different a lot of them lie just to get a bonus but she told the truth. .. you get paid based on the amount of DRIVING years you have not flatbed experience. . Im on the 4 State Regional run which personally I wouldnot recommend if you have less then 3 years of driving experience that's just my 2 cents I mean I've not seen a 1000$ gross check since I started I just hit like a 900$ gross check but I was told freight will pick up in February so we will see... I'm home every weekend sometime get in Friday evening/night or early Saturday morning... I'm sure I've forgotten about somethings but I'm trying to hurry got to tarp my laod.. hope that helps a little

If you are running PA, OH, KY and similar, freight is kinda spotty right now for everybody. Some days I'm jumping like a frog on a hot plate, others I can't give my trucks away for free. It's a slow period in flatbeds around here right now. But we are expecting an upswing here soon, so hang in there.

Good luck! I for one am very interested in hearing how things go for you there. I see the company trucks often but do not know much about the operation.

Yeah, in my research havent seen a lot "PGT Bashing" espcially on the company side.. So either they have strict social media policy or something because there is such a lack of info floating around

    bigred81 Thanks this.

No strict media policy that I'm aware of. Most PGT drivers I've talked to are pretty busy, so that's a good thing. Really only heard the general complaints you get with any company.

My overall impression with PGT drivers is that they aren't unhappy. Which, for truck drivers, equates to dancing in the streets with joy for other people.

Ive got several friends who are with PGT, they left TMC to go over there. I am currently slated for orientation for this monday, and then I will be going out to Fisher Illinois to run on one of their dedicated accounts. This account and the trucks on this account are different from the rest of the fleet as they are higher speeds pulling Conestoga. I have a friend who runs on their heavy haul coil division and he runs from Perrysburgh Ohio to Stubenville Ohio and back. Hes at 25% and says hes making more on that account than he ever made on linehaul for TMC. By my numbers and knowing how I drive, I can make close to what I was making with TMC.

Since i haven't did anything dealing with flatbed before I can say this... if you're wanting to lose weight or not you'll see a difference in your size... it's work for sure... pay attention to what you are securing and put on the right amount of securment the load requires... DO NOT GET IN A RUSH.. ive been places were the customers Try to get you to hurry up and get finished so they can go home or get other drivers loaded when they were the ones who got behind doing bull crap like stop loading you to talk on the phone or to another employee... it will be a challenge you will say a couple of swear words but then again you might not just step back and take a breather and get back to it... Good luck to you and anybody else that is going to flatbed...
