I always kept my backing to a minimum, people always have a habit of sneaking behind you. Always keep a tire thumper in the truck for people who sneak in behind you.

a guy once told me the less you use your blinker the longer your blinker fluid last. I asked the dealer about this and they said yeah and you shouldn't use your jakebrake going down hill because its hard on your muffler bearings. Must be true.

Simple solution I use is lock trailer when I stop unlock when rolling.. I do a walk around anyways so it's no extra work

Good point. Got to save those muffler bearings for the truck stop.

I won't drive sick if it affects my ability to operate my vehicle. Sniffles and sneezes won't keep me from rolling, but other things might. I felt horrible yesterday, aches and pains, headache, low grade fever, but I drug my butt out of bed and headed to the yard to start my shift. While I was strapping and tarping the load I had a coughing fit that was so severe it made me light headed and affected my balance to the point that I fell on my butt. When it happened again I called it quits. I couldn't justify having another episode while I was driving. My dispatcher howled like a smashed cat about how hard it would be to find someone else to cover the load, but she did it. What she was really upset about was the extra work of tracking down another driver.

Went to the doctor this morning. I've got pneumonia.

"I like to keep my trailer locked also loaded or empty.
Except lately, the Salt and crap they put on the roads, and the locks don't get along very well."

cut a slit into a tennis ball and slip it over the lock

I know that's right about the fueling thing. Truckers in truck stops with NO consideration for others is SO freakin annoying. Especially the ones driving 45 mph through the parking lot. Or the ones who can't wait 5 freakin seconds for somebody to back in a spot. It's like they're driving 4 wheelers - they'll scream by you wrapping out 2 or 3rd gear when they figure they have ALMOST enough inches to squeak through. Get over it people - we're truckers - sometimes we have to wait on other people - or trucks or cars to get out of the way.

I don't drive between midnight and 05:00 unless absolutely, positively, got-to-have-it, have to run, and no other way to work it.
