No. Nabors has a shuttle van that goes from San Angelo to Big Lake and back. The drivers that live in San Angelo ride the shuttle bus and get paid for the commute. An hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. So that is 10 extra hours a week and 20 extra hours a paycheck that they are paying out to 7 or 8 drivers.

 

Sorry to hear that. I am starting in Watford City next month. Who do you work for that you got a 15 % cut? I just signed a contract for $ 29.65/ hour.

 

Have been working the patch in North Dakota for the last 5 years and it is slowing up quite a bit.Enough so that i'm packing up and going back home.BTW the wind chill is 30 below this morning.Brrr

 

My friend that works at the Nabors Iraan yard said if it wasn't for Big Lake they wouldn't have much to do. They lost a big contract with Fasken oil and ranch because the lease operator doesn't like Tony at the Iraan yard.I think it's odd that Iraan yard is still looking for drivers. The last time Nabors start laying off they started laying off truck supervisors and dispatchers first then winch truck then kill truck and then the vacuum drivers.That was the Iraan yard. If they cut free housing out they probably lose a few drivers. When oil companies need drivers they will kiss up,but when oil is down the oil companies will show their true colors.

Try to get on with Plains or Sentinel or someone who is in the oil biz. . Contactors are feeling the pain... we can't keep up..

 

They have already cut dispatch from 12 hour shifts to 8 hour shifts. So the two girls who were getting 60 hours a week are now getting 40. I also heard a supervisor say they will not be getting their bonuses. Several of the rivers have said that they will be gone if they cut housing.

 

With all the job cutting going on around here there's going to be lots of people looking for work so they will probably cut out a lot of the housing and hire local people when the other people quit

 

That is why we are going to hang tight where we are. We have our own RV so it won't affect us but when people start quitting, we will be here to pick up the slack and will pretty much be guaranteed the hours. LOL Gotta have a plan!!

 

My first year hauling crude was for Sentinel, they're a really good company. They lost a couple of big leases in our area at the time and revenue took a big hit, had to leave after a couple of months of being down 14%. The only gripe I had was the windshield cameras, they had first rate maintenance and equipment, great benefits and they treated you really well. Liked them a lot, hated having to leave. I still keep in touch with them as we parted on very good terms. Their yard is only 5 minutes from my house in LA, I wouldn't rule out going back to work for them. LA doesn't pay nearly as much as ND so I'd like to stick around here and earn as much as I can while the earning potential is still here. It seems like there are still a lot of jobs here for experienced crude haulers but I hate bouncing from one place to the next so I'd like my next stop to be my last for ND.
