Oil companies making less than 6% profit and that is obscene? Bet many truckers here are making more than that.

And how did you come up with this? The oil companys last profit report was between 6 & 8 billion dollars what % does not matter because they still hand out millions in bonuses Have you ever seen a O/O give this much in a bonus.

Percentage DOES matter! If one truck can make a 5% profit and that owner expands to 100 trucks, he just makes more profit $ at the same percentage. So are you saying that once the $ equals "obscene" regardless if the % stays the same, that is somehow wrong?

I own two trucks(one truck is paid for as are both trailers) and two trailers (reefers), and run them under my authority and I also have my brokers authority..... As for what I make, you can certainly stop by my office and ask my wife to disclose the companies financials.... I am sure she will be happy to do so.... :biggrin_2559:

OK at least your a O/O Trucker I was just wondering because some have all this advice to give and talk about other people having a hard time while they are on easy street. All the O/Os out there and only a few making money and I thought people on welfare stayed home or sold dope didnt know we had so many that are O/O.But you said you had your own Broker Auth.that can mean two things it helps get good paying loads or it helps you make money of some of those O/O thats on Welfare.Like al the other brokers do.:biggrin_25516:As for how much you make thats not what I asked. It was the average per mile. But whith you own Broker Auth.the trucks might be a tax write off.

So the fuel prices should not be worried about everybody needs to get some schoolin on business and just what will all the older ones on a fixed income do? Go to the same school Better yet maybe every one should raise their own food like they used to do then we would not need as many truckers getting rich like you seem to be.

O realy 100 trucks means more exspences to pay out.Oil companys are not building new refinerys but the price shoots up over nite What have they been doing all these past years losing money just so we could have cheap fuel I dont think so.And the profit comes after all the big bonuses and other under the table pay outs.Besides oil is free just costs to get it out of the ground to the pumps. Those 100 trucks have to be bought and I dont think 5% profit will do that over nite.

It's a tad more complicated than drill well, put in barrel and sell to refinery. My 100 truck operation example pales in comparison to a GLOBALLY focused company. But considering the costs to drill (exploration, buy/lease land, pipe/pump equipment, labor, recovery, transportation, refining, marketing, etc., etc., etc.) I still say 5%-6% profit is more than fair.

It's a catch 22.....everyone says DRILL! DRILL! DRILL! But where is the money supposed to come from (once we get past the gov restrictions)? Bank loans? Factoring companies? :biggrin_2559:
Companies make profits so they can invest in their business. Basic economics.
