I'll tell ya what he told me back in the day. "Signs is for tellin' us what we already know but just want someone else to say it's OK to do."

Then he chucked his MT bottle of Kentucky Smooth into the fire, grabbed your Mam's arse and farted so close to the fire it flared up and singed his butt hairs, on his way to use a tree for what dogs are supposed to use it for. So, take it for what it's worth.

Me? I'll say it's a tough decision. No matter how much you prepare, research, check theories on what works and doesn't for cost control and revenue generation; $#!+ always happens that you didn't plan for and there is ALWAYS an aspect of something no amount of research coulda told ya. You're on your own. JCT don't tell, they ask if you want to. So I gotta ask ya, Son(? - Jerry still ain't got back to me on them results):

Why do you want to do this? Not just JCT, but anywhere. THAT is the bigger question you should be wrestlin' with. Security vs. riskin' what'cha got in the bank (to carry you over) on . . . what? The WHAT is what you gotta figure out. Why are you wanting it and what do you REALLY want outta it? You gotta figure your home 'sponsibilities too. Mrs. Alpha, my (again still waitin' on that DMNA test from the Springer man) Grandimnals? This ain't no "home all the time" gig. You roll hard, long and a long way from home. How's THAT gonna play at home? YOU are responsible for paying for and taking care of the things your company used to. JCT don't tell. They offer. YOU either do or don't. Same w/ all the others. JCT just has the best program for folks that, that . . .

. . . can do it. They want something other than what the money is. You ain't never gonna get rich drivin' that truck Son. No matter who you work for. Company or Independent. You F'd UP if that's what you thought whenever you started. If you got a good gig goin', then think real, REAL hard about ditchin' it to chase something WAY outside your comfort zone; cause from what I've picked up - this would be. Way outside your comfort zone. So; Why you wanna do it? That's what you gotta figure out.

If it turns out it's somethin' a whole lot more than just a chance (CHANCE - mind ya and it takes a while to get up to speed to get that) you'll make a little more money and be mostly your own Boss, then it's a maybe. If it's just the money and I had a good gig that was kicking right at home; I'd stick w/ that. This Pretty White ain't no Angel either. Better than most but still just a trucking company. They do better than most about thinkin' about their drivers, but at the end of the day they are still . . . a . . . truckin' company. Just a pretty danged descent one that lets (this part is REAL important Son); YOU make it or break it on your own situation. Make it or break it - it's ALL on you. To make it, you gotta stay out and run freight til you got the money banked to go home. Truck bills come out first. Leftover is yours. THAT is just a simple fact of being an independent - anywhere.

Son, I'm gonna leave you w/ this, then I'm gonna toss my Kentucky Smooth into the fire and go use a tree, though that may be a bit of a trip. Don't see any trees anywhere here in the AZ desert. Maybe I can slide down a sandy ditch and hide for a minute. Think careful, figure out the why and the what. If it is THAT important you, you can't NOT do it, you may need to jump. No fire in the belly? You may need to stay. As for decisions?

Three frogs sitting on a Lilly pad. Two decide to jump in the water. How many frogs are left on the Lilly pad?

One? NO. Three!! Two decided to jump in the water. Deciding to do something and actually taking the leap and doing it are two VERY different things. Research, think, talk to those most important, look inside, decide why, answer; how important is THAT to you, then decide what to do and then

JUMP or Don't. Just be OK with it either way. Sittin' and festerin' on somethin' won't make ANYONE in your life happy. If you decide to take the leap- I wouldn't do it anywhere ELSE but JCT. They are what they are, but they have been straight up w/ me. That's a danged sight better than I can say for most. It's all good

    Aminal,

In all seriousness, the advice you posted above is by far some of the best advice anyone could give another driver who is thinking about changing jobs, especially if it is to change to an ownership or lease/owner role. I sincerely appreciate the time and the thought it took to make such an informative post.

I also asked Uncle Clyde about getting out of my comfort zone. He asked me if I believed in signs. I respectfully said, "No sir." Then he said to me, "Well, since you don't believe in signs, do you believe in the moon and stars?" Again, I politely and respectfully said, "Yes sir, I certainly do. I can see them." With that, Uncle Clyde said, "Well, then, Junior, you ain't never seen a moon like this"..... and promptly proceeded to face away from me and drop his skivvies. He then made a hard left right into the bridge of my nose. Just before I passed out, I heard him say, "there is a moon and some stars for ya!" :mshocked:

That's funny. I ended up getting a load to Plainview also. A nice light 22k of dry goods. I will be there Sunday morning.

Well seems like a few of us decided to go home at the same time. Currently sitting in Moberly waiting on good old Walmart to unload my trailer then take it to get washed and fueled up and go to Olathe and drop it at Tyson( don't have enough room at home for truck and trailer so now it's 230 mile bobtail plus whatever I pick up after I come back out). Then head back towards STL to go home. So this should be fun. Been 9 months since I was last home. LoL

I don't usually complain about things on here, but I have to vent. Had a delivery in Ochelata yesterday. 5 hours after my appointment time they call me in for my paperwork. Find out they rejected almost half the load due to 9% decay. After I got of the phone with OS&D I sit......and sit....and sit. Finally I called JCT night operations and they tell me to come back to the terminal. They unload my trailer and put product on a storage trailer. Very productive day. 100 miles. Yeah me.
