I just bought a connex 3400 and was wondering if I would have to buy an antenna and coaxial

He probably sees the new Cascadias without conventional antennas. (they still have antennas, they're just flat coils embedded into the roof cap now.)

thanks volvo244t, I have been doing primarily city driving for the past 10 years. The last time I was set up running otr I had to use vise grip mounts. So you can understand my question a little better, there seems to be nowhere to clamp vise grips on the mirrors on the Kenworths or freightliners that Millis transfer runs. Im just trying to be prepared incase they send me out after orientation.

you can forget those standard Antennas and go instal your own
-
You could mount a bracket to the grab Handle on the rear of the cab and go and buy yourself a decent Antenna
-
Some of the guys down south run a 102 whip off the hood ornament/handle.
