As everyone at ATT knows by now, ATT finally came around in recent days and agreed to abide by the arbitrators' decisions. Unfortunately, nothing seems to have changed for the moment. Shills are still making fantastic claims, often contradicting themselves in the process. Still being forced on 'hot loads' and contractors are still coming into our driver's rooms and dispatching from our windows, presumably Cold Iron contractors.
A very recent experience had one 'driver' we've never worked with and have only rarely seem in recent years. Claimed to have been with ATT well over a decade but his knowledge was severely lacking and he struggled with the job to the point we had to step in and help him. He was completely uncomfortable working with us; he insisted he was an ATT employee despite are repeated questioning. Unfortunately, he dispatched by 'seniority' meaning he gets a shot at the better trips, ahead of many of us.
Noting has changed with ATT and the IAM working in collusion with each other. Our contract comes up for renewal this year and we see the freight train coming head on with Buffenbarger delivering the contract ATT will be seeking, yet again. Buffenbarger's interference with the Boeing vote came as no surprise as the ATT votes have been 'rigged' in the past according to more senior employees.
Vote the IAM reform ticket with Jay Cronk/ Jason Redrup.

Hey guys, I'm currently in cdl school and one of my trainers mentioned att was hiring 200 drivers and they were accepting cdl school grads.
I was told about what all the job entails and that the salary is 70k a year which seems much too good to be true. It seems some of you guys have very good things to say and others seem to be getting screwed.
If att is really such a high paying job then why are they so short on drivers that they are hiring cdl school grads?
I was really excited when I heard about it, but now I'm very wary.
Any info about how the company works these days would be appreciated. -
Did you ever go to work for ATT? I started about 6 months ago; I like the job but many of the claims were just false. It looks like that I have to run constantly to make a halfway decent check with little or no home time - not good. Good benefits but the money isn't very good. I was told I would start at $75k a year; not even close judging by current earnings. Many drivers I spoke with who have been here for many years tell me that $45k - $50k is normal. I would question those who claim to make much more than $50k per year. It's certainly possible but do you want to run around the clock and never go home? I've met several here who don't have a home as they live out of their trucks and motels; not appealing to me as I'm married with teenage children.
I've noticed 'new' people with little or no trucking experience begin making fantastic claims within a few weeks or a few months after starting. All of their stories reek of bs but they seem to be popular with management and the so called 'training department'.
Whatever decision you make, this is a good experience for anyone, even those who don't stay around for one reason or another. I'll be surprised if I stay around much longer but the experience has been positive and now I can add 'truck haul' to my resume. -
Im glad I changed my mind about att and went to Bluelinx great union job and bennies

Is there any recent news about ATT? Looks like an interesting company to work for...are they still subbing out a lot of loads to non Union deivers?

Regarding your question: When I left last summer ATT was still using contractors, primarily Cold Iron. I couldn't really tell how many trips were being given away but didn't seem to be near as many as the prior year. I noticed that Cold Iron was shuttling single trucks off of the Cleveland (and presumably Mt. Holly) to the Cold Iron Statesville yard for redecking. Unimark wasn't getting much of anything from ATT as I recall.
Take a shot at it; you might be the perfect fit. Turnover was going through the roof while I was there so there's an opening for you. No driving experience necessary beyond truck driving school. It's your call. -
Thanks shamus! I found a few posts on here and have read good and bad about them. If you don't mind me asking what kind of pay where guys getting there? I have seen 70-80k and then saw posts where people said you would be lucky to break 50k...70-80 with union benefits is definitely worth it but to struggle to make 50k, there are better LTL opportunities that will get you home every night
