Vic, if you are asking me, then I say I could care less. And I say that only because my impending retirement. I think a "better way" would to have all the trucks newly built, have all the gizmo's they speak of regarding robotics, and still have a human driver. That way, all the safety feature are there, and no loss of jobs.

But in the end, as I was alluding to, I'll be "all set" in my life, to carry on, and basically as Alfred E, Newman asks, "What me worry"?

If truckers continue to have a piss poor attitude regarding banding together as a group, then frankly, they deserve the day all trucks become robotic, and the foreclosures start.

Piss poor attitude by me? Or the truth of the matter?

65 here...don't see it happening.....way too many variables to be considered. Good arguments on both sides of this issue , but in the end , I don't think it will come around in the next 50 to 75 years.

Since you are not quoting anyone, and only making a statement, I just do not know who you are speaking to.

Crash proof isn't the issue, over the jobs lost that another poster brought up. If the drivers of America do not band together to stop the robotic trucks, then they only have themselves to blame when the dinner table is void of food, and the foreclosure sign is nailed onto the home.

As I see it, American truck drivers will sit back and "let someone else" fight their battles. I'm just glad that in a few short years, I'll not have to worry about not having a job. What can all the young one's say?

Not too much from the unemployment lines.

"No one has to "worry" about feeding the kids, and paying a mortgage, since no one does anything about it, as a group."

most younger people don't worry about this anyways. no matter what field they are or are not in. when the pay and benefits and quality of life in general are better by not worrying about this stuff (working) its kind of hard to blame them. im actually jealous. I wish I had it in me to be a freeloader and rely on others but I wasn't raised that way.
I wouldn't be surprised if not only automated trucks are on the road in the near future, but automated everything. burger flippers, trucks, cars, busses, store clerks, police (traffic violations) etc.
    my opinion
