So how do you OTR drivers wash your dogs on the road ? I can see how a small dog could be washed simply enough but larger dogs would need lot so water , hose , bath tub , shower ... So where do you find a place to keep them clean ? My dog needs two baths a week to keep smelling good .

I never need to wash the dog, just brush him. Washing the dog twice a week is very excessive IMHO, maybe he has a skin problem. I'd certainty as my vet.

no she just gets to smelling like a dirty dog . Mostly in warmer weather . I use baking soda on her if I forget to wash her for a few days . Works good for a day but I do not like my truck smelling like dog. 50 lbs of dog

we usually got a hotel once a week...as hard as we ran, we took a day away from the truck, then hubby would bathe the babies...we keep our poodles cut short...shaved down, always have. just the female has poodle ears...lol then rest is shaved to help keep them clean. always kept a towel in the door too to wipe their paws off after going potty if it was raining etc....would dry them off then their paws .

Might look at a Boxer, they don't bark at every little movement, but will when needed, they are very good dogs, but they must be walked daily, and brushed often, ask me how I know this!, but these dogs are extremely loyal, best "truck dog" I've ever had

There are a few areas near truck stops, one that comes to mind is in Las Cruses, NM behind the TA

My dog is 60lbs and she is cooped up a lot but every other day I hit a rest area and play ball to wear her out. If you get a puppy just be prepared to stop a lot for bathroom breaks so it doesn't think it's ok to use the truck. I highly recommend that once the dog has down some basics to put it into a training program when you come in for time off to correct any bad habits that may have developed. Having my dog with me isn't much of an inconvenience at all.
