If no police report filed in fender-bender, is it still an incident on my license?

I received my CDL A this past summer and started driving for an LTL company in August. I haven't had any kind of accident in over 20 years, and the last one I had was over 20 years ago, a minor fender-bender in a parking lot. Yesterday, I was getting ready to leave a Penske repair shop. The mechanic had pulled in after road testing my 20 foot straight truck, so I had to back up into the street to leave. This is a backroad, so there is little to no traffic. Before I got in the truck I looked behind it. Then plotted my backup knowing I had to go slowly into the driver side of the road. No one was behind me when I got into the truck. I checked both mirrors before proceeding then, since the lot was on a slight hill, began to roll back looking into my driver side mirror. I was going at less then idle speed and had my foot on the break as I let the truck roll down the grade. Suddenly I felt a bump. Nothing in my driver mirror, in my right mirror I saw half a Hummmer. I pulled up, got out of the truck and an old lady was pulling away in the Hummer then she stopped. She basically admitted she rolled in behind me as I was backing up. The damage was very slight to her back passenger door. No police were called. My question is this. I was about to be hired by a much better company for a lot more money, but they want no incidents on my license. Since no police report was done, will this still show up as an incident on my license? I have to reapply to my new company on Monday, as my previous app was only good for 30 days, and I can't start there until the middle of March.

You failed to mention what happened, as far as actions, by your present company?
This would give a better picture.

it's common knowledge that only citations show up on your mvr.

you didn't get no citation, therefore, there's no mvr.

but yeah, you might get a dac. and as long as you don't apply to dac companies. you'll never have to worry about.

why anyone would work for dac companies is beyond me, anyways.

Thanks for your response KW. this just happened yesterday, I called my manager when it happened, he gave me instructions, which I followed, but he was gone when I got back to the terminal last night. I wont see him until Monday, so as of now, my company hasn't done anything.

As the others have said, it won't show up on your drivers license, but the reason I asked about employer's actions is because of possible DAC/HireRight reporting or inquiries from your prospective employer to your present company. I wasn't sure if you were even fired, being that you didn't mention any details of your present employer's actions/response in your original post. Good luck & hope it works out well.

PS: No matter if the woman "admitted she rolled in behind me as I was backing up" it is entirely the driver's (your) fault, as is in any backing collision.

Thanks Pound. I was unaware of the DAC. Just researched it, and it seems like it could be a problem. I'll ask my manager on Monday if this incident will be on it. If it is going on my DAC, I hope it takes a while before it appears. I have to re-apply to the new company next week. I looked up how to get a DAC and it takes 15 days to get a free one. So maybe if this incident does go on it, it wont be for a while. Maybe I'll be blessed. :biggrin_25519:

your company my not even use DAC...
Be nice to the boss and ask.If they do actually report to DAC tell him you will pay for any damages to keep him from reporting it..
DAC-HireRight.....same thing,is a paid service for employers. Some places use it and some don't.

If you wish to be blessed in this situation I would suggest that you declare the incident because it may show up down the road and you COULD be discharged for falsifying your application. It is on your to do what you feel is truthful and proper.

Thanks SR. I believe the Lord has His hand in every situation, and if this incident prevents me from going to the company I think He is leading me to, then He is actually protecting me and leading me in another direction. If I don't tell the truth up front, then I am taking things out of His hands and putting them in my own, and experience has taught me that never ends well. He always knows better.
