Sounds like one of the better companies to hire on with as a newbie. Good luck!

$75 per week is for the family plan. I have it even though my wife worked for BCBS until recently. It was less expensive with Superior to cover my son than BCBS.

She has breast cancer and Superiors insurance is secondary coverage for her. They pay some more on her bills after her insurance pays.

A single person will pay less than 75

I did my first load yesterday. I had to be at the terminal at 4:30 am so we could pre trip and get our paperwork done as we needed to be on the road by 5:00. We were hauling two different types of white oil over to Elyria Ohio in a three hole tank. We had a 9:00 am delivery and got there about 30 minutes early. We didn't start unloading until 10 and finished up at 1:00 pm. It was a customer unload with air and it was inside which was really nice as it was -24 F outside. I got some really good training on these 3 compartment tanks and while they were unloading my trainer went all over the different valves and emergency shut off procedures. Once they finished the unload we had to pull the truck outside to release the air pressure in the tanks and check for heel. We ended up having about 10 gal of product left in the rear compartment which we had to drain into buckets and the customer disposed of. My trainer said that if the heel is less than 5 gal you don't have to do anything with it. After that, we finished up our paperwork and were on our way back home. Got back to the terminal at 5:00 pm, dropped the trailer and did more paperwork. I left to go home at 6:00 pm so I had 13.5 hours for the day which worked out to $171.50 in pay. Not bad for training pay.

I'm off until Saturday night. I need to be back at 10:30 pm for a load of wax that we'll pick up somewhere about 3 hours east of here (can't remember the name off hand) headed to Rockford Illinois for a Monday morning delivery. So far I've really enjoyed working here. Everyone has been very supportive and helpful to me. Every time I'm introduced to another driver it's always been "welcome aboard" and "this is probably the last company you'll ever work for". Says a lot about a company when you hear employees say that.

Looks like I'll be going to Greer, SC for school on March 2. Looking forward to getting out of the cold and snow for a week.

Cold is one thing but this -24 F crap sucks. I'd be happy with 30 right now.

Sitting in Kankakee today, about 30 degrees and no snow :biggrin_25519:

Going to be headed out tomorrow towards Monaca and that will be all turnpike, just outside this winter storm.

I should not have rattled Pandora's cage.

Made it as far as Beckley WV before shutting down. Fortunately I decided to skip Tamarack and got off at the 44. Grabbed the next to last spot here at the Go Mart and have been listening to a bunch of pissing and moaning on the CB from guys trying to get into the travel plaza. I won't get through the house now but they had me going back out tomorrow anyway. Now I get some hourly pay and do a drop hook tomorrow. Probably stop in Winston Salem on the way back out and meet my wife for dinner and grab some clean clothes.

Well, I'm currently sitting at my hotel in Maumee Ohio. We got in here just before 1:00 pm with 5 minutes to go on our 14. We have a load of wax that is scheduled for a 11:00 am delivery in Rocford Illinois but we're hoping that we can deliver early. We're going to have some time to play with tomorrow so my trainer is thinking about running over to the terminal at Markham so I can see what it looks like. He tells me that I'll see a lot of this place once I get out on my own. I'm hoping things go smoothly tomorrow so I can get home early Tuesday and possibly get a day or two off. I'll be leaving this coming Sunday for Greer and I need to start getting things packed. So far I couldn't be happier with how things have gone.

Get him to show you the tank wash at Torrence and 80-94 as well. It can be tricky to get into if you don't know where to turn. More than once I have found a trailer there that was supposed to be at Markham.

I am sitting at the S Charleston terminal. Turbo is going out on my truck and they are towing me a day cab up from High Point. I will stay at the company hotel tonight and deliver the load in the morning.

I headed out this morning and as I was getting on 64 in Beckley the truck started accelerating by itself. I pushed in the clutch and it revved to 2500 by itself before settling down to normal. I drove to Charleston with no problems and called the shop. I added a gallon of oil yesterday and it was gone. Going to get a new turbo all injectors and who knows what else.

At least I am not on the side of the road.
