thanks EasyMoney and everyone else who has been positive, for the negatives if thisd is what you really wanted to do in your life, you would have made it work and you wouldnt be so bitter. If you dont like the industry and want to give negative speak towards someone starting out this is harsh but IMHO so true. GET THE F' OUT and stay out, let us guys and gals who want to do this have more frieght, retire, get into welding, whatever you like, but try to keep your negative of the industry oout of here. If you are so negative about it why dont you do something about it and help us younger folks out

im all for you
couple years ago, me and dad looked into it , but just didnt seam like it would bring enough to be successful , good luck to ya -
I agree with you. Im getting ready to switch from a company driver to a L/P driver next week. Everyone i talk to says im crazy but I will find a way to make it work. So to anyone looking to get in to it, More power to ya!! -
Nobody is trying to crush a dream by telling you to NOT go FLEECE purchase!!!!
BAD idea!!!!!
Stay company until you can afford a little money down and go finance your truck and lease it to a company. Never and I mean never finance your truck at the same place your income is tied to. Most all places do not have a vested interest in you making money. Many, many, many are the horror stories where folks got starved out.
Please don't do a fleece purchase! -
Listen to the guy!!! Thats some no joke advise!!! -
NEVER,NEVER,NEVER--Trust these trucking companies with your money. They will steal it in a heart beat. You have to have control over the title to your truck and the ability ,move if need be. They want you to be holding the small cards so they can call all the shots. These people have been in the bisness a long time and most of them are sharks.------They only make moves that are in their favor.------When they find an inexperinced or niave sole. They will they will eat you up in the end.--How many times do they sell the same truck?--I could go on and on .But,I will leave you with this.--Think of them as used car salesmen and hold your cards and money and signatures very very close to the chest, and always have a way out when they slam the door.

There is one company that I know of personally because its local and I know a few guys that did the fleece. Won't name em though because I don't want any trouble. They will get you in A-ok no problems at all. Run your ### off and juuust when you start seeing the light at teh end of the tunnel. Alllmost busting out those last few payments.. you'll be sitting still and barely getting any miles till you HAVE to turn the truck in or they repo it. Then they'll resell it to someone else. Its a cycle they do.

Very good advice by Handy Man. I would never consider a lease purchase plan. As far as the guy who started this thread. Why not drive as a company driver for a year or two? By then you should know the ropes and be better prepared to be an O/O. Just a suggestion.

I'm just starting out. I have my eye on the future - tank, flatbed, O/O... but I don't even know if I'm gonna like it yet. I THINK I will, yes - or I'd not be where I am today. But you never know how the cake is going to taste until you swipe a piece.
