    Continuation...

Thursday morning, dad's wife was preparing some kind of chicken barbeque in the back yard...

That's her house, where dad lives now... It's a small village in the middle of nowhere in the state of Ceara, northeast of Brasil.

That's the view from the second floor of her house. The gas station to the left is new...

Seems this little village is growing...

The weather is always hot... It rains some this time of the year... so they call it winter because of that... but it hasn't been raining much at all and folks are having to buy water for cooking and drinking...

These hammocks are very popular in Brasil... specially in the northeast and north regions... This is where folks sleep instead of beds...

I was going to post here 2 nights ago but we lost power :biggrin_25510:
I spent ALL NIGHT up... laying in bed... tossing and turning... :biggrin_2552: almost 90F, no fan and freaking mosquitoes flying around... :biggrin_2552:
Nothing very fun or exotic about that... :biggrin_25512::biggrin_25523:

Yesterday I helped my dad... organizing his paperwork in the little house he rented across the street...

Poor man is on a wheelchair, can't move his left arm, can't walk and has nobody to help him with sooo many things....

Today I took his car to his mechanic...

It needed new spark plugs and cables...

Driving around the little town of Hidrolandia...

About 20 mins from the little village where dad lives...

Seems the internet signal will not last long here... it may drop at any time... :biggrin_2552: Hopefully we'll not lose power tonight... But who knows...

Ukumfe, kat man, Summerz and 5 others Thank this.

There's a massive truckers' strike going on in this country right now. 15 days into this strike so far... road blocks in 96 strategic points on major Brazilian highways... This "movement" is being organized by leaders of over 100 independent groups and via Facebook "Comando Nacional do Transporte" :yes2557:

The "movement" is not using any union cause unions as they say, are "hand in hand" with government... this "movement" is mostly formed by independent owners... :yes2557:

The strike is already affecting farmers, food and fuel distribution...

Milk producers are throwing milk away, some hospitals had to cancel surgeries... and shelves are getting empty...

Not sure the strike is affecting north and northeast regions as much as the south and southeast... However, the "movement" is counting with support from the public in many southern towns, businesses and other groups... :yes2557:

Despite of use of police force, "tear gas" against demonstrators and threat of a fee of R$ 10,000.00 per hr...

folks are not giving up... :biggrin_25512:
The government is trying to "strike a deal" with truckers but so far no "light at the end of the tunnel"... :biggrin_25512:
