yep Wednesday fairly well sucked. took an hour to do the last 20 miles to the DC.
a few of us from the Ashley thread were all there and not going anywhere so we had our own stuck here for the night get together lol.
about 1/4" sleet then 5-6" heavy wet snow. once we drove on it in the yard a few times it was solid packed ice. I did in fact have to be pulled out of the parking spot the next morning. couldn't move. first a chained up yard dog gave it a shot and got stuck, then they brought over a light duty wrecker they have at the DC to pull the yard dog out then pull me far enough out I could finally get some bite and move.
none of us left until around noon Thursday. took that long to get the roads in good enough shape to go. wise choice to stay put judging from the number of wrecks down 78 from the line to Birmingham. 3 of us were all headed back to the DC in NC. the other 2 stopped short they're florida guys it wasn't going to get them home any sooner to push it. I just ran it all the way just in case they were still behind because of the weather I was just going to go on home. no luck there. got in there with 11 minutes left.
at the westar in cowpens,sc headed home in the morning after being annoyed with the railyards in Atlanta all day. planned right back down to that godforsaken place for Monday. traffic was worse this evening than I've seen it for a long time. I liked this westar a lot better before they sold out and remodeled. took away some of the old school feel of it and I miss the mr. waffle. they still haven't put a new restaurant in yet.
I hate Peoplenet, where are you parked and recipes thread

Great pics Rocks! I love your dad's wife's wheel barbecue -- I totally need to make one that. But I'm a little concerned about that electrical outlet by your bed; was it on fire at some point?
I dig the hammocks too. The guy who ran my trucking school once went OTR in a day cab and slept in a hammock below his trailer like the snoozing striker...
Hope you have some fun between paperworkRocks Thanks this. -
Showers there aren't too bad or expensive. -
getting in and out has always been a pain but looks like it might get worse in the future before it gets better. I saw a big sign exiting last night at the stop sign advising of a public comment period on improvements......sign said the state is looking at widening 85 from where it drops to the 2 lane at the 80 to the 96 in Gaffney and fixing the exit / entrance there at the 83. it would be a much needed improvement but a pain in the ### while it's in process. southbound was so bumpy and potholed coming down they might should spend the money on repaving instead of widening. it's starting to get pretty rough.Rocks Thanks this. -
Thing is, Latin America politics are very different than what we do here. That being the reason the Brazilian truckers strike is what it is, versus recent attempts at doing this in the US. It would make for an interesting discussion on the political forum.
I wonder how long it will take for the PRF (Federal Police) to reach out to their Big Brothers and bring a military solution to this?
Edited to add: I think I will go start a post on this in the political forum LOL.Rocks Thanks this. -
