Exactly tommy,, and we know (or it's apparent) there are TWO separate issues in this engine build, the corrosion being one.

However, I'm also looking at the "as installed" liner protrusion measurements/specs.
WHO in their right mind could even take the next step of putting a head gasket on it, when either:
    1. They don't even make minimum specs for liner protrusion and perpendicular-ness.
    2. Or if they 'write off' the measurements as not having a 'precise enough dial indicator, without first getting one and making sure it's right!

PP should have built that into their new counter bore tolerances if it was a Green Block they were dealing with

Perhaps yours is only safe because you have a Turbo 3000D on it!!! lol

Seriously, I'd check that gauge for accuracy, as 215 is running a 'bit high' before fan actuation.

The fan on my C13 comes on about 215F as well. I once questioned my CAT shop about it and they said it was ok. Seemed a bit too high for me.

KW Cajun and Lucar Thank this.
