You may be right, and it could be that the Iowa shop put the final nail in the coffin. But I found it interesting the way Bruce went right for the Evans coolant. He put it in, and he had them pull it out.

I didn't hear anything about the radiator or the fan. I didn't hear anything about thermostat. Someone brought up the water pump, and while they agreed that maybe they could have sped it up, no one thought of it at the time. It was almost as if PP knew something was messed up with the coolant. To go straight to that without checking out other cooling components, it's interesting.

Use the link in the first post. I don't do facebook either but their page is public so you can read thru everything. You just won't be able to read all the comments.

The feeling I got yesterday after listening to the show is that Bruce was ready to wash his hands of everything because the Iowa shop had and was again working on the motor. Personally I think they (PP) knew something was up from the get-go.

This engine is the extreme , but this is the very reason I send a coolant sample to the lab 3-4 times a year.

    I thought that also.
But after reading thru their Facebook I came across this mod by PP in October of 2014. There is no mention on the Facebook page of other mods being done by another shop that I can see

And I guess the conclusion from that experiment was it did not help the performance.

Not sure but I think only the last turbo and ECM was installed in Iowa.

I listen to the show Sunday, that DD engineer should be on anti-depressants, lol. Anyhow I found the service manager from PP talked like a used car salesman, Bruce was unbelievablely defensive, as was the DD rep. They talked as if they never put out a bad reman or had a problem with a rebuild. Bruce kept winning about the owner taking it to another shop. IMHO the damage was allready done, and I don't believe it was from one overheat.
They also seemed to blame Evans, wtf, as if this was the first reman to ever have Evans. The rust inhibitors they talked about I believe is a coating of the parts, not a liquid lying around in the passages.
No mention was made about the grounding, the head was pretty much ignored throughout the conversation with the exception of the valves.

From yesterdays show I understood it as the shop in Iowa put the final 3 turbos and ecm+ tunes on, thats when Bruce lit up and said "I begged you not to.." and then he went on to say "its the same thing with our race car engine- the builder that does our motors also tunes it, why would we take it to another shop when the builder is the only one who knows the motor" So Iowa was clearly involved since that October post somehow unless I totally missed it, then I appologize!
That engine needs to go into a dumpster, an oem crate motor re-installed and then call it a day.

    YEP

PP should have done that 6 months ago.I wonder at any point if PP did a compression and leak down test in the last 6 months.

Kinda hate to say this wasn't mentioned, but could that corrosion be part of the engine paint they used?

Like they didn't bother to close the openings and just sprayed nilly willy everywhere.

Who da heck is worried more about engine paint than performance. Jeepers, "i like the contrast of turbo with engine" WTF!!

2 years experience as Owner Operators?? Yeah, I see who follows KR and cling on his every word. There are tons of "new" OO who think they know all about trucking. Heck, I'm 26 years in biz and still need help from TTR every now and again.

Reminds me of the movie scene with Josie Wales spitting on snake oil salesman "how does that potion do with stains?"
