Sorry Ethos, I'm having a little trouble understanding what you mean by throwing a rock.

Well, if you're having trouble you could always just spin around in a circle and then fire a gun but if you use that method you really need to master step 4.

    No Thanks!
I don't need a babysitter....I would imagine you don't get any drivers with years of experience sticking around very long anyway.
I feel sorry for those 20 to 30 drivers a week you run through orientation....just for them to find out what a mistake they made!

    EZX1100 Thanks this.

Although "Smartdrive" might seem to be a safety factor, it sure as hell didn't stop that driver up in Redding, CA a few weeks back from
reaching for some food on the right seat, and running his tanker off of I-5 into a neighborhood street, and the only thing that stopped that rig was a big Oak tree, else he'd been up in someones house. It all about insurance companies, and the tax write-offs for the owners, IMO.

I can kind of see the idea of the inside camera, but interior audio seems a bit much, unless it can be shut off while the driver is off-duty, so they can talk on the phone while parked. That said, I would not work for any company who had inward facing cameras and audio listening, and I dont have to since I have lots of places I can work at my skill level.

No matter: in 10 years, maybe less robotic trucks will be putting lots of drivers out of work. If you are young, become a tradesman NOW!

Without inward facing cameras you're not getting the full story. The intent is to monitor triggered incidents and see if there is a behavior that could be corrected. So if a driver often swerves as he's reaching for food in the passenger seat, that specific behavior can be addressed. It's easy to develop dangerous behaviors and every now and again it can be helpful to have a safety message that actually applies to your specific situation.

My experience is that most drivers don't like being called out on their bad behaviors.

Dispatchers are always "dirtballs" when you are getting crappy rates. They are your best buddy when the rates are good!

Drivers are dirtballs when they're late with "good freight". They are a dispatcher's buddy when they will take crap on the promise of a good rate for the next load!!
And the circle of life goes on!!

Yeah, I get that, and if I had to I could live with the camera, but not the audio. Besides, I dont talk #### on a CB, since I rarely use one, because I dont like listening to a bunch of motor-mouth's blabbering away about just how great they are, and if I want to talk to my SO while driving with a Bluetooth headset, thats no ones concern but mine.

It just so happens that I grew up when there were no cellphones, so I dont need to talk for long on one while I am driving. In fact, at the volume I have my CD's, or the radio, cranked up to, the dispatcher/safety clown is only going to hear lots of loud Rock And Roll music from the 1970's, which I am sure he wont like too much. My hearing isn't what it used to be, but I can still pass a medical card!:laughing-guffaw:
