Lone Ranger 13, MJ1657 and joseph1135 Thank this. -
And then the salesman asked Josey,"can I interest you in a Turbo 3000D" ?
Tennesseahawk, Flyer, blanco and 2 others Thank this. -
I see Fitzgerald offers a nice Peterbilt glider for about $136k. Why spend $200k ? I'll take my savings upfront.
joseph1135 Thanks this. -
All the planning for savings was based on 4.00 fuel, numbers won't work too well on 2.40 fuel
-
Did anybody check to see if the AirTabs were installed to specs?
Flyer, BeN DaViS, double yellow and 2 others Thank this. -
Was this the first build of KR's signature glider that he is planning to market and make a lot of money from? Maybe get a bunch of new sponsors on board? So the OP was the guy who is financing this experiment by buying the truck before they have built and tested some to make sure it is a design that is going to work? As an investor putting the money up, seems like he took all the risk. I have to wonder if he was going to get something out of it as a financial investor in a project might expect. A taste of the returns? What was his motivation to take such a risk on $200,000? For a glider. Has to be something or why do the hard work

I think the problem essentially is that the OP was fairly new, couple years I think I heard and he took everything KR preached to the nth degree. 200,000 for a truck was or is preposterous. If everything was trial based or pushing the envelope then I think that the Op should have been quoted a base price for the truck, then have all the sponsors donate their product until such time that indeed they were proven models. At that time then they all could turn around and say for sure that their products were proven and charge whatever they thought the market or some dope would pay. Just sayin'...

That is the level of arrogance that Kevin Rutherford displays. None of the products he touts have ever been subjected to double blind controlled studies. 10 trucks, same fleet same operational area. 5 have the modification, 5 don't. Don't tell the drivers which ones have them. Or if an obvious mod, switch drivers half way thru 1 year, 100,000 test. The manufacturers of the product foot the bill, independant testing organization oversees it.
Just for grins, do a placebo test. Turbo 3000 installed, no inner workings. See if drivers report increased fuel mileage after an inoperative device is installed. About 50% of them will. This stuff is nothing new. Go to Google books and look at the ads from an early 50's Popular Science or Popular Mechanics. Send $.50 and self adressed envelop to box 1234 for 20% increase in gas mileage...Big_D409 Thanks this. -
IF Jeff & Kathy actually paid the approx. 200k price simple math, playing around with various numbers would NEVER lead to this being a sound business decision. The numbers simply don't support solid risk vs reward decision making.
Long FLD, joseph1135 and Ok big boy Thank this.
