If the owner ends up having to eat the bill for another engine or repairs, he is going to end up with a truck that will cost what he could have spent on a regular glider with a nice ARI bunk on it. Especially when you figure in what the repairs and downtime have cost already. Yikes!

Hell if he has to pay for the rebuild he could have bought 2 gliders.
And I sit here reading this while I am supposed to leave tomorrow to pick up my glider from Fitzgerald.

Why would it? It's the only thread on TTR where everyone agrees!

    factory settings YES

You start changing the Tune- Advance -Fuel delivery -CFM of turbo and the pounds of boost and it is a whole new game.

You LUG the crap out of that Hi Po motor climbing and it is going to get HOT. Much hotter than a stock motor.

You start shoving all this crap down that motor and lugging it when it wants to BREATHE and must in order for it to stay Cool ,it will get Hot

Lugging or lack of RPMs will kill these Hi Po motors on a climb. They have the power it is just not down low and easy like the days of old.

I could drag a very knowledgeable man here who was the foremost hands on man working on High Performance Diesels in Offshore Racing boats that ruled the school back in the day in high Performance Offshore boats in the the 80s

A couple world championships 35 years ago that have not been topped.

he loves to talk and would have a Ball with these guys.

For those wondering why they didn't take it back to Pittsburgh Power, here is the timeline:

    6/1/13: Glider ordered
    2/25/14: Glider built at KW
    4/20/14: Glider finished at PP
7/10/14: Glider returned to PP due to low mileage. PP reset the overhead and altered the tune, stating he was shooting for 11mpg.
7/26/14: Glider achieves 11.6 mpg (deadheading) Hits consistent 9+ mpgs throughout July.
8/7/14: Glider breaks down, PP overnights a new ECM, but it turns out it was a bad wire. Mpgs fall to 7's & 8's throughout August.
9/13/14: Glider returns to PP due to low mileage. Gets a new ECM. The 2050 ft-lb LIPE clutch is also replaced under warranty
9/17/14: Jake brakes not working properly
9/25/14: Glider hits 50,000 miles. MPGs fairly consistent 8's (at 50% deadhead)
10/1/14: Glider returns to PP. Jake brake solenoid replaced, Cams checked
10/2/14: PP installs smaller turbo to see if that helps mpg's at 1225 operating rpm
10/8/14: MPGs drop to the high 7's.
10/23/14: BW turbo reinstalled, mpg's return to mid 8's.
    November: MPGs drop to 7's
    Dec-Jan: MPGs rebound to 8's
1/24/15: intake air temp sensor malfunctioning, mpg's become inconsistent
    2/12/15: hits 100,000 miles, mpg's in the high 7's
3/6/15: Iowa shop discovers low compression, bad leakdown, & removes head finding ruined head, ####-eyed liners, etc

Notes: Spec sheet says the glider was ordered with Aluminum hubs, which lowered the single drive axle's rating from 20,000 lb to 17,000 lb. But KR spec'd a lift axle, pusher orientation, which means the only time you could lift the #### thing is when deadheading or loaded with less than ~15K in the box. It also means they couldn't use a single 16 ply tire on the lift axle, but instead had to use supersingles or duals. Spec sheet also says 2.93 gears which is a bizarre ratio. Bobtail weight is 23,000 lb !!!

The hubs might be aluminum but it sounds like the rest of it was made out of lead.
