I got the Garmin for like $130 on amazon. I like it so far. Forgot the model number, but it's like the 20, just without the gps feature. It records decent vid at night, and records in a constant loop. You can set it to either detect an event, and also adjust the detection sensitivity, or just push a button for the event.
It then overwrite protects the 4 minutes before the event, and 8 min after the event on three separate 4 min files saved to an included micro sd card. Comes with the micro card to regular card adapter.
I mounted mine in the middle top of the windshield, to get the most possible side coverage.
Plus the micro sd card is small enough to swallow if the accident is your fault.
Edit to add- now that I think about it, be sure to mount it where you can reach the event button, because the shock sensor either goes off at every pothole on the high sensitvity setting, but on medium and low, it doesn't seem like minor wreck in a big truck vs car would be enough to trigger it. I've hit potholes that felt like a major accident, but the sensor didn't trigger. I think its more designed for car use, shock-sensor wise.

One_tooth_wonder Thanks this.

I have unplugged mine several times before taking the camera home, and it didn't cause any video to be saved or even be retrievable.
So you can have the shock sensor disabled, but will still have to push the protect button to manually save the vid. -
I just checked mine. The video is fine, including the 15 seconds after I pulled the power. I never told mine to not record, so it starts recording as soon as it gets power. If the red LED is on, it's recording.
The way these cameras work, they are always recording to the card. When the card gets full, it deletes the oldest (nonprotected) file, then writes to the newly created space.areelius Thanks this. -
I haven't been able to find a 32 yet for mine, is it actually worth it? Do I really need 12 hours of continous video?

Rocks and joseph1135 Thank this.

It would be nice, but my truck is a T700. When the key goes off, everything goes off. Dashcam, satellite radio and GPS. Even if you turn the key to acc, nothing plugged in the front works.

The dieselboss camera has a cord long enough to route along the wall to the sleeper (useful for trucks lacking enough power ports up front).

Order it online.
I have 2x32gig SD Cards, and going to go to 64 at least before too long.
The lighter plugs turning off would be annoying.
Both my GPS and Dashcam stay on 24/7. -
I just bought a 32GB Sandisk at Staples for $24.99. They have a bunch of Sandisk at half price.
The Garmin docs say that it has a max of 32GB; let us know if the 64GB card works.
