There was fog on stretches of the PA pike this morning from Pittsburgh to Somerset where at times you just had to go "I hope nothing stops in front of me"
Sometimes, even this morning, if I come up on a truck in fog I'll just stay behind it until the fog breaks... i feel comfortable that way -
Hi lee, yeah, that was always my biggest fear driving in the fog, that all of a sudden, the back of a trailer came into view. I know it's not fair to pick on the dead, but I wonder how fast he was going? Large cars with flatbeds usually went hammering past me in the fog. I never could understand that.

Yeah, I saw that. I just wonder, would going 20 or 25 mph cause everything to fly forward like that, or is that something that would happen at say 45 or 50 mph?

Two coils still sitting in the median when I drove by today...looked like one hell of a mess in that area...all sorts of fresh tracks in the grass, busted up barrels underneath the bridge. I know there are more dangerous sections of road around the country...but that stretch of 65 from Indy to 80/94 is looking pretty rough after this winter.

No doubt in my mind 25 mph could achieve those results. When I worked on the railroad we would flat switch cars and would "kick" cars down different tracks. I would get them rolling around 5 or 6 mph and the conductor would pull the pin and tell me to stop and let a group of cars go. Every now and then a few would get going a little faster thanthey should have and make what we would call an undesirable hitch. I've seen some pretty crazy results"semi" retired Thanks this. -
Thanks, Derailed. So that's why that freight in those containers was all over the place.
