My 1998 IH Spicer equipped tranny went bad two weeks ago. Replaced it with a reman'd. Fuller 13 spd. which cost $6,300 without a core. Went with a new clutch, bell-housing, etc. Job took two weeks, got the truck back yesterday.

Haven't seen the bill yet but the service manager said it will be in the ballpark of $16,000. He said there was $10,000 worth of parts alone.

Is this possible? He had estimated between $10-$12,000. Anybody with similar experience out there? I can't get my head around this one.

    WAYYYYYY too high.

Had my transmission grenade top gear on me last May. Got an RTLO22918B, installed with clutch, no core charge for $10300 out the door. Took about 4 days from the time I drove the truck into the shop until I got my truck back. Got mine done at that Freightliner shop in Lubbock, TX.

seems steep, but probably lots of parts were fabbed for this job.

new driveshaft, cut or extended to fit, balanced etc.
