Yeah, starting to look like it is more and more pp. If they can't even put it together in a clean environment then I start to question everything else they have done. Starting to feel very good that I went to CAT for the rebuild on my Pete instead of taking it to them.
Honestly if they are playing games with a truck with as high of a profile this truck has, makes you wander what they would do for a regular customer. You have to believe that this incident alone has already cost them more than if they would have quietly and quickly fixed it instead of trying to lay blame elsewhere.

I agree. It is not that this engine failed that has soured me on PP. it is why it failed, and I see no reason to believe that they will do a better job on my 12.7 than Detroit, and give as good a warranty as well.

Let's not blame it all on PP just yet... the final word on this hasn't come out of the shop for one thing. The owner kept the break-in oil in the engine for 50k miles, well beyond the point it should have been changed, and then there's the issue of how he operated the engine.

I'm pretty sure if it would ever reach litigation, the counsel for the truck owners would make the point that the engine should be "driver proof". That's the risk these shops take when building extreme engines.

Old school 10,000-12,000 mile oil change wins. Looks like everything Old School wins.

The Owner was naive and was counting on being led by the infinite knowledge that PP and KR was going to pass to them.

Leaving the breakin oil in for anytime longer than a couple thousand is insane regardless ,pinching pennies to cost thousands. Stupid.

i wonder if these svored rod bearings are on the same cylinder as the scored piston and cylinder.

PP and KR buy the poor man a new re manufactured Detroit and get the man back in business.

If you don't I guarantee we will be reading about more problems.

My beef with Bruce and PP, is he immediately stated that the truck had been in other shops, he could not help unless it was in his shop, and if other shops had touched it he couldn't be liable. Not an exact quote, but that was the clear message I got from his statements.

His position was the engine was perfect when it left his shop, and he even bragged how it was getting almost 9 mpg.

If that's his position on a high-profile, high-dollar job like this, what is he going to do to you if you have a problem with one of his products and you are in Washington at the time ? Tow it to PA so that he might stand behind his work ?
