in collage motivation class they teach you money is not a motivator job satisfaction is. i thought that was a crock then and still do,the only time that works is when you have a supervisor and he or she is power hungry and cares about nothing else. that being said show me the money and i think most drivers think that way,now notice i said drivers. if you want driver retention, pay them a living wage and treat them as you would treat any of the office staff. anything else is just fluff. b safe out there
Rewards or incentives for you as a driver?

But in general terms, a cash bonus of say $1,000 is written as such on the check, all taxes on receiver.
All my vacation checks were of the regular weekly one, minus all taxes. O/T is (to me) the biggest rip off there is. work (say) 20 hours O/T, pay taxes on 10, like we worked for free for 10 hours.
I would work several weeks of O/T, see the taxes taken out and said forgetaboutit, no more O/T for me. -
So.......uh.........*cough*........erm.......ah.........Are we talking a ma-ssage at an Oriental establishment, in......say.....maybe not the most upscale part of town???

I'd stay away from big fancy prizes for only a few drivers because it comes off as pandering to a few suckups and actually creates resentment from the rest of the drivers.
I think a paid hotel room and maybe a meal for drivers who are stuck out on the weekends a lot would really go a long way for morale.
Because of the nature of OTR with dispatch and truck quality not being equal, it's hard to have a fair contest.
Time off for running hard should be the biggest prize IMO. I like to be rewarded by making a bunch of money, then getting back to my real life. Apparently some people aren't like me and like to spend a lot of time hanging out in backwater truck stops.
