Why just choose between two companies if you have a cdl?
I see new kenworth's,Pete's, and international's roll through here every day at Celadon.
Quite a few new trailers here also.
I've talked to numerous people here coming back to Celadon, that would rather except a few cents less per mile, but drive new equipment, and get decent miles.
Most feel like Celadon treats them more like family, then just an employee.
That's a lot to say about a large carrier.

I live in Arlington, VA.The way I came up with Dart and CR is they were the first 2 I saw that would hire a driver with a CDL A but hadn't driven in over 3 years. Also they were the first ones I saw.

Why Dart or CRE? Their are better avenues you could take? Schneider would be a better route to take, if your not affraid of a little extra work.. You could go flatbed, they'll pay you better, but if you decide on CR England, please please, don't get sucked in to their lease deal, if you got drivers telling you "their making big money" pull up England's web site, have them show you with your own eyes! Qaurrantee they will not show you, because the money in their lease are not in the drivers pocket, it's in the company's pocket

For flats, you may need to take a refresher course, but it will pay off in the long run

    TMC
Melton Truck Lines, I drive for these guys, great people
Maverick, if you don't mind automatic, if just starting out, I'd wouldn't drive autos, until I was persistent with shifting
    Boyd

    tankers

    Schneider
    QC

any of these would be a better place to look than Dart or CR England, best of luck

Aryi, NavigatorWife and Grijon Thank this.

    Oh, you don't wanna know.

I have heard more bad about England than Dart. Dart at one time was about the best of the best, regarding o/o's.

They too have a lease/purchase deal.

I would have to go with Dart, but others here may have heard bad things about them too in the past few years, I really haven't.

Driving brand new equipment, DOES NOT pay the bills. Oh sure, one can brag that he is driving the newest, superest rig out there, but the miles may not even really be all that good, on a weekly basis.

Been at this game too long to drool over new equipment. Gimme a 2 to 6 year old truck, since the payments to the company ARE LOWER or even PAID OFF, and I get the mileage pay instead.

You newbies have such a stiff thing going for new, new, new. So ok, while you're sitting all because your NEW rig stops running due to the regen problems, I'll be blowing by you, making more than your itsy-bitsy $10 per hour break down pay.

And I won't be here griping about sitting and not making any money that week, like some of you do right now.

Hey crazyjarman's, just like the A-Typical o/o, will always say what he GROSSES, not what he NETS! These lease monkey's will brag they had a HUGE year, but they dare NOT tell us what the really took home after taxes, truck payments, insurance, fuel, repairs, etc, etc.

Would NOT surprise me one bit, if the final net they earn was a mere $40,000, and here, I am being "conservative" at that!

Just like the true o/o's out there, they will never tell us the true net. Gross means shyte, give us the BOTTOM line after all expenses!

From there, ANYONE can make a smart decision to lease/purchase, or buy out right!

    Aryi Thanks this.
