solar flares is what caused it.

was good for some long skip signals on the CB.

never owned a GPS or smart phone.

    haven't really needed one yet.

    just call them.

Im with the guys that say STOP RELYING ON THE GPS. This is far to common of practice in todays time.. I ran into a guy the other day, he was asking about a certain hwy and if it was an approved truck route. I asked if he had looked in his road atlas... He didn't have one. I ONLY turn my gps on if I want a quick calculation so I can give my customers a quick eta...

Similar things will happen with Qualcomm.

Pulled a load out of Minnesota to Calumet,OK. Ran with the vampires. Next day, my dispatcher calls and chews me out for going out of route to SLC,Utah. They pinged the QC, and the QC showed that I had driven to SLC.

"Overnight? From the Twins to SLC to Calumet overnight? I'm good, but I'm not THAT good. In fact, I dont believe I've ever met anyone that could run like that."

Yeah, I know...its only a few inches on the map.

Can't believe how many drivers don't have an atlas and don't know how to read a map.Part of the reason is because some carriers have a gps in all their trks and drivers are spoiled by it and then they can't figure out why a driver entered a no trk route or hit a low bridge.I won't drive without an atlas in the trk.

I drive otr for two years and never used a GPS. I'd use an atlas to plan and check my routes. I'd use google maps to plan city routes when they weren't in the atlas, but this is days before I'd go through that city.

Technology will never be 100% reliable.

Okie...that your ride? That has to be the beefiest, manliest truck I've seen in a long time. Complete with a coffin sleeper. Black Sabbath...

Alright cool, thanks for answering me. Now I can safely take off my foil hat.

Anyways yes i rely on my gps, but I know these areas, I just don't know the streets. The atlas doesn't have what I need. I do have directions for each store, but it's hard to use it when you starting on the opposite site. I don't see how can you not use it, it's making me more money, I am never later, and it gives me reliable truckstops. I just wished it worked correctly half of the time, cause I am tired arguing with it.

If your phones down, you obviously can't make a call

Paper logs, a road atlas and the maps they give you work great
