I finally got a chance to bobtail now that I have the wide singles (x one line energy d) so I thought an anecdotal comparison might be of some interest. Highly unscientific scangauge average-- 4 miles of surface streets, 18 miles of freeway, ~55mph (holding throttle at steady 48 horsepower and letting speed drift from 52-58 with terrain).

15.6 mpg: ~55 mph, 6x4, unskirted tractor, 18,000 lb, $14,500 purchase price + $8,000 in mods/refreshing, Detroit 12.7, Meritor 10 speed direct, 2.64s, 22 miles (average mpg was still climbing).

    vs

    15.3 mpg: 57 mph, 4x2, full aero tractor, 23,000 lb, $200,000 + $30,000? in refreshing, Detroit 12.7, Eaton 13 speed, 2.93's, 550 miles

They're still breaking it in so their mpg should come up even more, but those gears & weight are going to be their biggest hindrances...

No doubt they would wear out engines faster, have more drivetrain issues, & get worse fuel mileage, but -properly tuned- their engines wouldn't be failing at 100k...

Its a shame they experimemted with competitor's tunes -- I think that opens up just a sliver of doubt that'll let PP weasel out of their responsibility...

That's amazing. I think I'd still rather have the $230k Signature KR. Just the prestige and pure satisfaction to have something KR had his beautiful mind in making, makes it so much more practical a decision.

image.jpg I still can't believe anyone would buy anything from this guy........

I would think about giving $2.30 towards his new glasses fund though....

.....then again he made it easy to find Waldo.
