There are several things that KR has not considered, or doesn't want to tell. When the '08 trucks came out they were all lots of trouble and terrible fuel mileage. When the latest EPA trucks came out most of them had better mileage than the pre-EGR models, but still expensive to maintain and needed rebuilds before pre-egr trucks. The difference between the EPA trucks and the pre-emission gliders is not so much the fuel mileage, but the lack of up front cost and the cost of maintenance.
Today's truck operated right will probably equal or beat a pre-emission glider in fuel mileage, but in no way be cheaper to operate as far as engine expense is involved and cost per mile. If KR was informed and knew what he was talking about he wouldn't be pushing gliders for fuel mileage, but for lower maintenance per mile cost, less break downs, and more available to haul freight miles per year.
If he comes out and starts talking more about less maintenance instead of more fuel mileage I should sue him. It is here documented here where I said it before him.merv85, Captain Canuck, Davidlee and 5 others Thank this. -

His problem is, besides hawking things that don't work, is he is addicted to getting the best fuel mileage possible. It is like a drug to him.

The real trouble is people are stuck in 1970's engine thinking. most people still don't even understand electronic engines let alone emissions. doesn't help you to have microblue top to bottom and slap big or small turbo's on if a sensor is sending bad data to the ecm brcause it's covered in soot. doesn't help if the ecm is programmed for an engine with different injectors., etc...
balancing an engine like you wanna run 2800 rpm's and 1000 hp. then stick some hacked up cal file in the ecm, or one designed to work on a stock engine, and the actual purpose is running 1500 rpm tops, it makes no sense.wore out Thanks this. -

Seriously. I mentioned it in another thread, but on today's show someone called him out after getting worse mileage with a lift axle and KR turned it around by claiming it was an aerodynamic issue and that the caller needed a "flow below" to get the most out of it. Totally shameless diversion and I'm sure his "tribe" was nodding along in agreement.
Lucar, MJ1657 and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
He always turns it around and changes the subject. Now that he is in charge of o/o sales for Flow Below all his show will be is one big commercial.
