Life on life's terms: One persons journey.

So everything is all setup now. My recruiter called me this morning to let me know that she sent the link for my bus ticket. I leave for Dallas this sunday in my pursuit of a career as a professional truck driver.

I look forward to this opportunity in a positive sense, and Im thankful that Swift is giving me this chance to work for them and make a good living.

This is not my first time driving trucks. About 10 years ago I went to CDL school, earned my credentials, and got hired on with a reefer company based in California. I was doing northern/southern California deliveries for a short time. I liked it alot, but I wasn't focused.

I was a young and immature person back then, immersed in living the California lifestyle, and not mature enough to handle the lifestyle and responsibility of being a professional driver. I've grown up alot from back in those days of hanging out on Venice Beach.

Im based in Texas now, a little bit older and mature, and ready for this new experience. I say "new" because thats exactly how im approaching this: like ive never touched a semi before. Im coming in humble and teachable because I want to learn all that I can and be a safe driver out on these roads.

 

Yes I am. I have to stay in Dallas for 1 week, then they send me to Corsicana.

LOL you got yourself a deal. Venice Beach is an amazing place to be, I still have quite a few street musicians that are my friends that perform at the drum circle and various locations along the boardwalk. Southern California will always be a special place for me with mostly fond memories, but it was time for me to grow up and slow down a little.
