    The newest Stryker SR-955HPC have a better SSB receiver than the Quad 5. This is because an upgraded SSB Product detector was used. Also, power output on the 955 is 90 watts vs 50 watts from the Quad 5.

    Stryker SR-955HPC output is 80 watts. Do you think RCI-2970N2 is better than Stryker 955?

    The Ranger has higher power output, but otherwise in my opinion the Stryker is better. The new SSB receive is very impressive, I'll post a link to the video I saw on it.

    the best radio for AM would probably not be the best radio for SSB

    The reason I mentioned the 955 is because has good AM & SSB performance.
