That's actually better than most mileage rates.
TransAm pays .84 for all miles plus fuel
Celadon pays .94 plus .22 for fuel surcharge
Still sucks though but there is worse out there.
for those who need proof.. here you go

Prefer longer runs or shorter runs...

So you mean these 4&5 mile loads we have I can get someone to run them for $1.57 a mile...... I would only run for percentage. O/o or company driver.
As an o/o I am quite sure I could do better than that just running off the boards without putting much effort into it. -
-
i would run a 200 mile load for 6 dollars a mile vrs a 1000 mile load for 1.90 i would not even start my truck for 1.06 per mile
-
Yeah that's the thing. Even when it's dead and freight is down it's possible to find 200 mile runs for $600. Not a fun way to make money and boy you will earn it but sure beats $1.90 on any length of haul, or $1.06 craziness. It looks like those are just the rates without the surcharge. Probably there is a surcharge around 30 cpm give or take but even so that is still dirt, dirt cheap regardless if the company is paying for everything - there's just no money in it. I don't know how guys like that ever pay for repairs if they're not doing 100% of the work themselves and even if they do all their own wrenching parts are not cheap! You think how bad it sucks to ruin a $500 steer tire but think nothing of just buying another one, or maybe even just getting 2 so both are matched. One really good load and it's just a bad afterthought a hiccup. For guys running on rates like that a ruined steer tire is the stressful sort of thing that can set you back $ for a month or more.
Terry270, Newtrucker48, wore out and 2 others Thank this. -
Hey I'm at Schneider and I roll with all the short freight because on % it's awesome
In the past three weeks I've done 4 loads ranging between 80-164 miles that paid in the range of $4.74 to $6 dollars a mile and that's with me getting 65%
Heck I even did a 242 mile load for a little over $4
Mileage pay is a rip off but some guys like the simplicity of it.Newtrucker48 Thanks this. -

.96 rate is simply moving loads for nothing. our company did that for a month with a local carrier and that is something we would never do again. The carrier kept all the money. most of the loads we carried were paying them 1.80 or more per mile and the .94 they paid us was not worth it at all.
