I think the tradeoff for increased def usage for elimination of the EGR would be ideal. One less part to go bad and the benefit would be reduced regenerations. Volvo has already set up their D11, 13 and 16 EPA 10 engines to run the minimum EGR cycle to create higher NOX levels in the exhaust because that aids passive regeneration in the DPF because soot oxidizes at lower temperatures. Letting NOX levels come off high without EGR and treating them with the SCR system would make for a clean dpf.

SCR is just great. Another "fuel" to put in a truck.

What a great read! had to quit lurking and comment. Always thought KR was full of it. Hope that couple nail his arse to the wall. It is funny that some of the followers who have been owner ops for less than year or two or the ones with who are just starting as independants with MC numbers that start with an 8, think that they ARE the trucking industry.

What are they calling themselves? Master contractors...
things that make you go hmm.
he is talking to one of his followers on the radio now that is leased on to a company who made $1.38 a mile for all miles, had .62 a mile for fuel cost and KR is telling him to focus 100% of his effort into getting better mpg's. He should be telling him to focus 100% of his effort into getting his revenue up......but that's just me, on the other hand the guy said he couldn't get his head wrapped around percentage pay. So in his case he may be better off running his own truck for company driver pay. Guess he better get him some tabs, 3000d, scan gauge, tires, oh what the hell just sell the truck and get a different one.

Yeah, but he doesn't have any sponsors that make any purported revenue generating devices.

  7. I was out to dinner with a couple "heavy haul" guys. And a dry van guy joined us.

One of the HH guys, is new in his 20's. Asking me questions. When the cool aid drinking dry van pips up. OMG. FASS, OPS, 3000D. He's telling this kid, you can get way better mpg doing all this addons.

I interject to Mr. Koolaid. ". He's hauling 130,000 lbs. And " off road "

He's baffled, and says "get on the KR site" listen to him on XM.

I wait till Mr. Kool aid goes to bathroom.

I say to the kid. " don't waste your money. You see asphalt 30% of your loads. When you decide on a truck, find the powerplant you want. Find the transmission and rear gears. Body type is your preference."

Cool aid comes back and boast 7mpg and say is operating cost is .80/mile.

I ask what's you load per mile today. He says 1.86/mile. I ask kid the same.

    He says. "Oversized $10/mile"

    Cool aid is speechless....

At $1.86 he is probably in the top 5% of KR listeners. That's hilarious you call him Cool aid. I'm gonna start calling KR people that. We're haters, they're Cool aid, lol.

  10. The one thing that bugs me the most.

    Everything KR pushes
    Has a mpg improvement.

    1/8 of mpg
    1/4 of mpg
    1/10 of mpg

It's like the guys I knew who were wanna be gear heads.

My exhaust will give me 4hp more
The mandrel bent headers 2hp, msd ignition, carbon fiber race seat.
All this stuff and the car only does 13sec. Quarters.

Sitting next to him is. Ol' school gear head. Fine tunes and uses some add-on s his car runs 10 sec. Car.

    Amazing. Just amazing
.. If it wasn't for Cool Aid drinkers I doubt some of these companies would still be in business.

Everyone starts as a cool aid drink of one flavor or another. What kills me is these guys that don't believe any mods work, that if they did work the OEM's would do it, now that's amazing to me, but then again I took brand new motorcycles and tore them apary, made them better, tuned them better, then went racing.
