No. I have Sirius, not XM, so I can only speak with certainty about Sirius but with any paid subscription the internet access comes free so you automatically get satellite radio via your computer or smartphone for no extra charge. No need to buy a receiver for anyplace you get internet. The internet feed also gives you channels that your radio doesn't have, especially sports.
And for what it's worth, I got my Sirius radio free with my subscription through Sirius. Info was on their website. You could call them and ask because they're notorious for cutting deals to get/keep subscribers.
I have no problems with reception using the little magnetic antenna that they supplied. There isn't much metal on a Cascadia but I found a spot on the door post about halfway up the windshield where it holds just fine.

the internet only comes with certain plans or as an add on for a price which i think was around $5, I just use the $10 plan since it has the couple channels I actually listen to and it does not come with it but I dont need it since if im using internet I have cracked Pandora one on my phone.
As for the magnetic antenna I have mine next to a marker light right above the windshield, used the 3m velcro tape to stick it onto my cascadia and it has been sticking for almost a year now. -
If you want to save half on your yearly Sirius subscription when you renew, call a day or two before it automatically renews at the full price of like $260/year for the All Access Package, and tell the Filipino named Ricky or Grace (seems like they're all named that) you want to cancel and not renew. They will immediately transfer you to an English speaker in the cancellation department who will ask you why you aren't renewing. Tell them you don't use it enough and you've made your decision and thanks anyway. The price will magically drop to $144.05 all in. Just did this a week ago. And tell them you also need the $15 activation fee waived anytime you change radios. Its a garbage fee anyway for just pushing a button on a computer. But make sure you do it before it automatically renews at the full price. Their main expense is putting the satellites in space and signing the talent like Stern. Once that's done their costs are sunken and all that's left to do is chase revenue so they'll do anything to keep you. Anything they get from re-upping you goes straight to the bottom line. Use your leverage to your advantage when renewing.

I canceled mine a month ago and all they offered me was a free month. I still have free satellite in my truck though, when I switched my service over to my wives car over a year ago they never shut off the one in my truck so when I canceled it only shut off the wives car.

XM will send you a free radio...depending on your rig you may need a better antenna...I took my factory "puck" one and did a little workto Iit and put it on top of my CB antenna (2014 T680) no issues..

Online is great, but if you want to take a good look at the hardware before you buy then Best Buy is the place to go. Their prices are comparable to most online sources. Like some other guys said, don't pay the inflated truckstop prices
