Thank you. I'm quite satisfied with the result, too. Given the same circumstances again, I would do the same thing. There was no citation, no police report, and not even any interest in me from anyone but the Dept of Environmental Protection, and he really wanted to know who I worked for.

Yup. I would gladly sacrifice a fuel tank, tire, and oil pan for that.

    Me too.
Swerving around in heavy traffic like that is way too risky. If any of those cars had an accident while trying to avoid you someone would be after your butt, and the LEO would be wanting to see all your info for sure. Wouldn't get away with that too many times in a career.

    Mtn Gal Thanks this.

Here I sit in the Petersburg, Virginia, bus station with my trainer, waiting for the company van to arrive from 40 miles away. We have arrived and I am dead tired; the bus out of NYC was full and the seat I had was in permanent, broken recline position...and not level. You can imagine the sleep I got. Or didn't.

    So we wait.

I finally got my truck assigned, a 2012 Cascadia with just under 250,000 miles and it's not in bad shape, so apparently the previous driver was not an unhappy camper. Good. Mr. Trainer also got a relief truck to drive with his next "student." Very good.

I spent the night in mine, cool (much to my liking) and snore-free (also to my liking), eating a delivered Dominos pizza (not my favorite pizza.) But today is the day for the final road test, more paperwork, issuance of various documents, truck inspection and the inevitable wait-for-truck-repairs-to-be-made-before-formally-acceptance, an then, whatever the next step is.

    Hopefully, it will involve income!

I don't recall how or why you landed at WE. Makes no difference now. The really bad part is over. As bad as they are, they just handed you a truck and a "potential" paycheck.

Run safe. Do it right even when they tell you to do it wrong. If you think it is unsafe don't waste time with your DM. Go straight to safety and calmly explain why you "think" (not feel) it is unsafe. Guard your cdl like your income depends on it.

In 6 months - drop them like a used rubber and start making a living.

Just my unsolicited .02c worth. Good luck.
